Looking at Sharpe 747 link above, I'm hesitant to buy. Look at the box. Would you trust it? It looks like a Batman episode. That can't be OEM for this movie can it?

When I saw it theatrically, that was the poster. The ad campaign was built on "the original caped crusader" to hopefully nab some of the Batman audience. I'd just like to know about the aspect ratio before I order it. I have a fine VHS copy, but if the DVD is the proper 1.85:1, I'll make a purchase.

You can get it from Critics Choice (that link you mentioned). It is anamorphic widescreen, and the dvd insert is as shown on the CC site. I dont think it has a dvd menu, but looks great, and is the correct runtime (not sped up Pal). The street date was moved from November to December - most likely to coincide with the Downey film - but nothing else was ever said until the MOD version was announced. TCM aired it on Christmas weekend in 2009, that's where I got my copy but it's not letterboxed.
