I was just wondering at the begining of the stock footage montage does anyone know where the first two pieces are from (Dams being blown up and and a truck crashing into one)? I would assume serials. Oh and when the inevitable II thread is found please simple fold this into it. However, I figured this was a seperate matter of inquiry though and a seperate thread would be ok. EDIT: Well scratch the first one that was Thunder Road. School is Cool...well with Mole People at least

It seems to me the aliens could've done a lot more damage if they stayed invisible than inhabit old men in business suits' decaying corpses. And what...they choose to warn the entire planet at a hockey game? I really love the cheesiness of the closing narration over Paul Dunlap's stirring space march...MANKIND LEARNED TO WORK TOGETHER, SIDE BY SIDE,FOR A COMMON CAUSE... ta da da ta da!!! :)

I thought it was a fun, neat story, and worked really well with a small budget. School is Cool...well with Mole People at least

Possible--but it ain't necessarily so. Romero has freely admitted to ripping off--er, being inspired by I AM LEGEND by Richard Matheson in making LIVING DEAD, so I doubt that he'd balk at admitting a relationship to INVISIBLE INVADERS.

And I'll go on record as liking Invisible Invaders a heck of a lot more than Romero's films. I'll just sum up that I loved the attempt to do such and epic scale with a small budget. I agree with a review that says its like if Ed Wood had more talent and money for Plan 9 from Outer Space. Plus one complainet I read asked why only they were in the bunker and to that I saw obviously the country was in a state of mass confusion and the optimal groups of people and troops could make it to secure locations by this point and time. So take that random internet review ;p I also like the use of sports stadiums. Think of it, it is the most effective way to reach the American population in one example or Canadian in the other ;) I also don't find it cheap even with the use of stock footage. Even as mighty a film (and I love it so don't get me wrong) as War of the Worlds does the same exact thing. School is Cool...well with Mole People at least

I believe it is the first movie to have the police and the military battling zombies in business suits! Before Invisible Invaders, Plan 9 From Outer Space, The Last Man On Earth and before Night of The Living Dead!

Jan 16 07 3:52 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	"Invisible Invaders" could have inspired "Night of the Living Dead", it's a possibility but no proof of it - but I'm quite sure that the US/Italian Vincent Price movie "The Last Man on Earth" (an adaptation of "I Am Legend", incidentally) was the real inspiration. Some shots from this movie (if you put aside the screen image ratio) could be included in Romero's movie without anybody noticing (if they've not seen the 1968 film before of course).

I called the Screen Writers Guild and their records had very little info about him -- maybe just the date of death -- but they said it looked to them like there was actually a guy named Samuel Newman working in the '50s and '60s. Also, if memory serves, Samuel Newman's name continued to appear on shows long past the end of the blacklist era. Sooooo ... IMDb may be wrong on that one.

As Tom says, Newman has credits after the Blacklist began to be torn down (with the releases of SPARTACUS and EXODUS in 1960). Surely some authority on the Blacklist would have identified this guy by now.
