Jun 2 11 12:09 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Was rocked, gorked, kerflummixed and just plain surprised to hear ROBOT MONSTER's main title music grace the opening montage of an episode of Alfred Hitchcock Presents. And not just any episode, mind you, but one of the jewels in the show's crown, a first-season dazzler penned by Ray Bradbury called "Shopping for Death." While Ro-Man is nowhere to be found, the ep does boast a guest appearance by Mike Ross, the big, bald alien blingmeister from ATTACK OF THE 50 FOOT WOMAN, as the put-upon hubby to Jo Van Fleet's battle-axe from hell.

I never heard of "music issues" with the Hitchcock DVDs but ... would Universal really be so hard-up for music in 1956 for one of their classiest shows that they'd go to ROBOT BLEEPIN' MONSTER? <

Jun 2 11 1:05 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	It was written by Elmer Bernstein, who wrote the score for THE TEN COMMANDMENTS only three years after ROBOT MONSTER. I guess the Hitchcock folks thought it was good enough for a half hour episode.

For me the damn Martian Intelligence in the fishbowl and Gort and Robby were the weenie magnets -- but I swear THIS damn thing -- the contrary combo of an organic wild gorilla body in a hi-tech fabricated steel helmet with rabbit ears -- it just does something to people! And the "skull face" from the posters takes it to a 3rd dimension. It has that "je ne sais quoi", and I don't really know WHAT the **** it is -- but it IS! BUt it sure is INDELIBLE! <

I assume this must be an homage of sorts. (And maybe also to that "Martian Intelligence in the fishbowl" you mentioned.)
