Retailing at £59.99 (though other outlets like amazon.co.uk are offering it for around £45. It's based on the restored masters used recently for their DvD set - but with the annoying credit and sound gliches fixed.

Sounds like that'd be the way to go, then. Dumb question: do UK blu-ray discs have the same kind of region coding that dvds have?

Sep 13 09 1:41 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	UK Blu-Rays are Region B, Hal, while those in North America, Japan and South Korea are Region A. Though many UK BDs are region free -- just got THE ITALIAN JOB 40th Anniversary disc, which plays just fine on my PS3. Am very interested in this PRISONER set...will wait to hear feedback on video quality, extras etc. So far, most UK Blu-Rays I've seen look very, very nice, so I'm optimistic.

The Prisoner has never looked as good as it does now, so I have high hopes for the blu-ray version. What spoilt the DvD set were some stupid credit mistakes on a couple of episodes, and the wrong voice-overs on a couple of the openning titles. These issues have now been corrected for the blu-ray release (so I'm told) so this could be the one I've been waiting for for over 40 years!

Otherwise, screw it--I'll just spring for the UK edition with the 290-page book. WOW!

Oct 5 09 2:41 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Ok I'm only up to episode 6 (The General) but so far the Network blu-ray set is breathtaking. The Prisoner has never ever looked so good (in fact I'm sure this is far superior to how I saw it when it first screened in 1967!) - and I've seen pretty much every version out there (even the Japanese laserdiscs). All the little errors that bedevilled the Network DvD set have been corrected and the whole thing looks like it was shot half an hour ago. It's gorgeous. Thank you Network.

Nov 21 09 7:32 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Not sure if you got your question answered elsewhere, Hal, but the U.S. PRISONER BD uses the exact same transfers as the Network set...the only thing it really lacks is the accompanying book about the series that came with the (more expensive) Network version. It's still only $50 at Amazon and is a steal at that price.
