If i watched movies for the special effects i wouldn't be watching 50s sc-fi, right The movie was really enjoyable. It's one of my favorite "underrated" movies of the genre. The cast was top-notch (for a B-movie), the main characters all had depth to them and it was kind of refreshing to have a "mexican mountain" setting instead of a big/small city or a spaceship/planet for once, but that's just me. As much as i hoped for a better monster the flamestick in the eye scene made up for it. The monster's design was all right, but i didn't like the way it acted, they were trying to make him seem TOO retarded, so that was kind of ridiculous. Also, I'm not sure if i missed something, but did doc ever give an explanation why Bruce didn't only change in size like the rest of the creatures, but also became angry and mutated?

I keep trying to picture the studio recording sessions for Paul Frees doing the "vocalizations" for CYCLOPS and COLOSSAL BEAST....and wonder if any alcohol was involved.
