That's not actually a shot from the movie, but a rather crude paste-up. There was no scene like that in the movie; the story doesn't even allow this scene.

It looks like an official still from Universal Internationals promo department - this is at the bottom of it. Was it a early paste-up used to promote the movie before it was finished?

A xenomorph seen by the linemen. Here it's semi-wreathed in smoke; in a similar shot, over the shoulders of Carlson and Rush, out his car window, it doesn't seem to have much smoke.

Ray Bradbury's father was a telephone lineman, for what that's worth....
I'm going to post two Xenomorph photos, one a frame grab, the other from Life's never-published Xenoportfholio. I was wondering if there were any differences not attributable to the way it was shot. I don't see any myself..
