He's interviewed Bob Burns, Dan Roebuck and numerous others. I sat down with JM at Monster Bash for a taping. Here's the trailer for his forthcoming documentary, "MonsterKIDS". At the end, where they're showing those quick cuts of stuff, there was a clip of Lugosi, in full Dracula regalia, walking at some promo or other- anybody know what this is from? I've never seen that before (at least, the 1 second it's there didn't register as familiar). Answers, anyone? Scott

Funny, no one ever contacted me or approached me at MONSTER BASH but I did SEE: John (SCARE-NEWS) Scareshock at the end of the trailer. Since SCARY MONSTERS MAGAZINE has been reviving and keeping alive the MONSTER MEMORIES of so-called Monster Kids for the last 18 years it seems like a lost opportunity. It seems like a lot of documentaries being made today grab people at a few conventions and film them. The doc makers don't necessarily do their homework and contact or search out the best possible people probably because of limited budgets. For example while the Forry Ackerman Canadian -made tribute is good I have to say there are several magazines that carry on the tradition of FAMOUS MONSTERS magazine much more than Rue Morgue (nothing against Rue Morgue) as suggested in the documentary including the new FAMOUS MONSTERS itself.

You can't blame MONSTERPALOOZA for you not making the effort to go to it. But don't feel too bad. A lot of others missed it, too. But they won't next year! lsasser says he can set it up to check with the MONSTER KIDS guys to discuss an interview. Sounds like the MONSTER KIDS guys just took advantage of using the MONSTERPALOOZA event as an opportunity to catch as many folks as they could THAT ATTENDED. That's all. They BEGGED me to come to their convention and do an on-camera interview, but I told them no. Hey, it was my lodge night and I was going to named Grand Pooba. I couldn't miss that. Jul 29 09 10:41 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I was over at Bob Burns' house a couple days ago and we were discussing just who the original/first MonsterKid really was. By our definition, a MonsterKid isn't just a kid who watched or liked monster movies (I mean, what kid doesn't?). To qualify as a bonefide MK, we felt that said kid had to have done something beyond just watching the movies -- whether it was writing articles, making amateur movies, doing masks and make-ups, even something as simple as cutting movie ads from newspapers and pasting them in a scrapbook. Paul Blaisdell's name came up. But aside from dressing up as Buck Rogers on occasion, he didn't -- like Bob did -- get involved in monster-related activities while a kid. Forry too, while collecting items like movie stills and movie soundtrack discs, was really more of a "SciFi Boy" than a "MonsterKid." And I believe his real involvement with movie monsters per se came sometime after he still qualified as being a "kid." Forry told me more than once that his real interest was more in science fiction than in horror and monsters, as was the interest of many other fans of the 1930s and 1940s who read the pulps, wrote fan letters, went to the conventions, etc. So, in my opinion, the first -- original -- official "MonsterKid" would have to be (ta da!) Bob Burns. Because Bob was doing things in the 1940s and early '50s (just read his books) that the rest of us didn't do until years later. Don
