I'm always on the prowl for anything featuring Boris, Peter Lorre or Orson Welles, but last night I popped in a Suspense episode called "The Giant of
Thermopylae" (5-3-54) and it reminded me of just how much I like listening to Frank Lovejoy. He had such a cool delivery that made you want to hear his
story. Nightbeat is one of my favorite shows. It was kind of ironic that he died (10-2-62) only a few days after the final episodes of Suspense and Yours
Truly, Johnny Dollar (9-30-62) brought an end to the golden age of radio.
As far as female voices, I guess no one will ever top Agnes Moorehead. But I could listen all day long to Mercedes McCambridge when she did those sexy/charming/cute/arresting voices on I Love A Mystery. They were a little different from what we got in The Exorcist.
