I've always kind of liked it, but at the same time I've got no compution to seek it out and watch it again.The two lesser sequels probably have hurt the originals reputation (rather like the Highlander film sequels have done). I remember thinking at the time that the brutality in the original killing of Peter Weller was too much, that I literally couldn't watch all of it without looking away, but it also made me glad when each of the villains "got theirs". And the fight with the fully robotic Robocop successor is quite good too. There are lots of jokes, and it is a very "80's film. I remember it was controversial and everyone was concerned about the violence. I loved it. What was that story by Bova & Ellison? "Brillo?" Reminded me of that. And that John Schuck tv series. Only with gore. Stuck in my mind along with TERMINATOR.

(07/05/09 8:24 AM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite	Bought a copy from the Wal-Mart $5 bin earlier this year and watched it for the first time in over a decade. When the movie was originally released I thought the violence was so over the top as to be laughable. Since 1987 the world has become such a bizarre place that hearing the government announce 'cyborg soldiers' wouldn't come as much of a surprise. Got to see it again at the 24 Hr. SF Marathon in Columbus last March & of course it was much more impressive on a big screen in a full theater listening to the audience reactions. Golly, with his work in this & Total Recall Ronny Cox made the complete transformation from nice guy character to anything goes/get behind me & stay there villain look easy.
