I've heard, for what it is, it's pretty good. Roger Corman's 50 sci-fi'ers are always interesting, and I also think the mutant is Paul Blaisdell's best creation. He's very cool. Apr 23 09 6:56 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Couldn't find any other thread on this although there might be one even further back? I for one like this a lot. Just watched the DVD last weekend, had seen it letterboxed on AMC back in the day, and several times before that in good old fashioned 60's and 70's squarebox TV. I agree with Bill Warren here - for what it is I think it's pretty well directed and acted, even scripted. I had a Paul Birch double feature last weekend with this and QUEEN OF OUTER SPACE, and after watching QUEEN first this seemed positively brilliant! Now I'm a sucker for these "cozy" films where folks are trapped, and I am fond of this cast. But even counting for nostalgia I think this is one where Corman's above-average skills start to shine through. It's talky but the scenes always seem interesting to me, I like a slow monster reveal, and a few of the scenes where the Radek character goes out and comes back are genuinely creepy to me. The DVD actually looks pretty good even projected large considering it's not anamorphic. All-in-all a solid 50's radioactive entry. SAM33

I always like Richard Denning in these movies and Lori Nelson was absolutely gorgeous! Man, when they do those closeups of her looking out her window in her bedroom, you get mesmerized. You have to watch these movies for what they are. Yu can't compare them to anything else, otherwise you won't enjoy them. I've been trying to catch up on a lot of these 50s b-movies, and so far, the only one I really didn't like was MONSTER FROM GREEN HELL. And to add to the A+C stuff: "You know what your problem is Costellah?" Your brain is too tense. It's "two tense" the size of a normal brain."-Mr. Fields.

Some people probably think his stuff is pretty cheesy and cheap jack, but I love his verve. Apr 27 09 8:28 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	There is a lot to like about TDTWE but with it you also get Paul Birch's most lugubrious & pompous performance, and that's really saying something. That line where he says "We just might...live." is a classic of wooden acting. I do get tired of the pandering biblical references, too. And the altruistic prostitute/cocky criminal pairing is pretty tedious, as well. But I have always liked the silly monster despite the rubber claws, and I think the mental picture you get of the world "out there" that Haze's character evokes is quite striking. I have threatened my wife several times with a Paul Birch Festival. My site, my Soundboard page, and YSS (which is not to be taken seriously, as it is part of the Oddities)
