It was their feeling that to do so kept important work from REAL black widows. Plus, the makeup used to make the tarantula in question look like one of them was horribly, horribly sub par. (It's like they didn't even try.) ...and the tarantula's accent was horrid. "[The audiance] will populate the darkness with more horrors than all the horror writers in Hollywood could think of. Nov 2 09 8:18 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	As far as size being circular, the conception appears elsewhere in sci-fi. I have an anthology with a story, "He Who Shrank" that dates from 1936. As the protagonist shrinks down so far, he becomes gigantic, drifting between galaxies until he finds Earth. He stays awhile, but continues to shrink and departs. Being a practical person, I support the theory that he survived until he was so small he could no longer absorb oxygen. He then died a rather painless death. He then became One with the Universe or God, whatever one's personable beliefs may be.

Jul 18 10 5:49 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	This may be a question for a spider expert. I'm wondering if they used other spiders for different shots? Towards the end of the movie there's a scene with a spider in the middle of a web and even though Tarantula's do spin webs they are more of a hunting spider and stalk thier prey. So is the spider in the web a different type of spider than the one used in all the other shots? Or did they use the same spider in that shot and just make what looked like a web and worked the spider to stand on the web?

Jul 18 10 7:16 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Going by memory, I think the SHRINKING MAN publicity claimed there was one spider -- and that it was the spider from TARANTULA. But, as I posted above, Randy Stuart said there were lots, because they were melting left and right.
