I recently saw this film...as of last night. I enjoyed the setting, story, and pace. It was refreshingly interesting and intense. It didn't rely on
juvenile gory or crude humor to keep me interested. Just good performances. Thoughts, anyone?

I liked the idea of it better than the actual execution... the soundtrack is amazing... the political allusions are pilled so thick as to reduce their
effectiveness... the end finale feels oddly paced.

A very underestimated film imo. The film plays nicely with the Donner Party allusions and the skin crawls a few times as well. I thought it was smarter than
your typical cannibal movie.

Same here. An underrated gem that has gone largely unnoticed. Very original and extremely well done. Although it was graphic at times, it never went overboard
or had a feel of gore for the sake of gore. It was all strangely relevant and in context. For those who haven't seen it, check it out.

I was just listening to the Damon Albarn/Michael Nyman score, it's fantastic! The movie is great, I think it's a really cool variation on the Wendigo
myth. Great cast too, the scene with Robert Carlyle digging like a lunatic with his bare hands is pretty damn scary.

Flawed, for sure, but an admirably offbeat and largely effective work that transcends its production woes (three directors?) and run-ins with the MPAA.

A unique movie that had me laughing at the situations while squirming in my seat at the same time. Rarely happens. So different from the usual cannibal cliches
it seems the movie would be more widely known.

I'm not sure why this one is more obscure (never seen any promotional material). At the same time, I have to admit I picked up the box over the years and
kept putting it back. I was afraid it was going to be boring. If it wasn't for a friend loaning copy, I may never have seen it.

Probably the only movie ever made that successfully makes a steak look disgusting (as in the beginning) and a stew made of humans look absolutely delicious!!!
I LOVE this movie and would LOVE a DVD re-release with all the bells and whistles, but will settle for an anamorphic release.

Chalk me up as a fan of this one as well... I rented the DVD on release and went out and bought my own copy the very next day... I love the wilderness scenery
(very familiar to me, raised in the Canadian Rockies and all), the soundtrack, the off-beat characterizations...
