At the risk of sounding like everybody else, I have a near-photographic memory of finding my first FM. Was with my mom at the local drugstore, Igler's Pharmacy. I still remember the warped wooden floor boards near the back of the store where the comics and magazines were. It seems like school had only recently started up for what was my first grade year. I was probably looking for an issue of SUPERMAN or JLA, when I spotted the Lon Chaney/Kharis painting on issue #36. I probably had a panic attack! I just remember that I absolutely HAD to have that magazine. The 50 cent cover price was more than 4 times the cost of a single comic in those days, but I managed to talk Mom into buying it for me, and, as they say, I was never the same again. I wouldn't see another new issue of FM for about three years when an uncle brought me #54 while I was hospitalized with appendicitis, and while my collection eventually grew to nearly 100 issues, the December, 1965, issue with the MUMMY'S GHOST filmbook will always remain my sentimental favorite. I was kinda disappointed when I read somewhere that that ish was Uncle Forry's LEAST favorite. Oh, well...

My mom bought it for me to amuse me while I was waiting in the car during a dr appt or something. I was transfixed, and definitely got obsessed. Plenty of orders to Captain Company--I still have a lot of that stuff.
