May 15 09 4:18 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I did like the updated idea of the Petrox Oil Company. Any ideas on this - Does Grodin's acting get wacky as the film goes on? What was the deal with Grodin looking away from Kong's tanker cage in one scene? I did like John Barry's score and the Kong's facial reactions via Rick Baker. I know the Peter Jackson version was well intended, but it is pretty much forgotten, is it not? The whole film looks like it went threw the ultimate "Photoshop" fix. Every shot "magic hour".

May 15 09 6:53 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I wouldn't say that '76 Kong is a re-make, but just loosely based on the original, so I find it ok to watch, now Jackson's version is a re-make of the '33 classic and that's where he dropped the ball. Saying that, I watched a few scenes of the Jackson Kong up-scaled to 1080i the other night and will say that the details were fantastic, just a shame the movie isn't.

And at times the look of it, that slickness, and the Barry music starts to remind me of a James Bond movie. I enjoy Grodin's discomfiture as his food slides all over the table at dinner with a bemused John Randolph.

I wholly agree with you there, Shran. I had always thought of '76 as kind of a sequel to the original. I have always seen it as another expedition that travelled to Skull Island, 43 years after Carl Denham went there and captured Kong. I have always seen Kong in '76 as the grandson of '33 Kong. Picked up the CD a few years back and, even on its own, it holds up as a well-done piece of work. I notice some of those images did not appear on the View-Master release....
