Oct 23 11 11:22 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Well, so far I've seen two reviews of the film (including one detailed one on IMDB), so I assume that a copy of the film exists somewhere. Plus, the film doesn't appear in the Lost Films database (http://www.lost-films.eu/index). So there's still hope. If a print of this film really does exist, I really hope someone would release it to DVD. I would love to watch it someday. I mean, this is the only film to feature both Max Schreck and Paul Wegener, and that fact alone sounds truly awesome.

There are big threads devoted to the guy, he was nut job. He committed suicide a few years ago by setting his apartment on fire. Don't believe anything you read online.

I'd post it here but still can't figure out how to insert graphics from my PC (as opposed to linking to a graphic with a URL). I have contemporary descriptions of Life Without Soul that seem to be much different from the storyline claimed on the Wikipedia page (no surprise, eh?), so maybe that entry was penned by that Gwymplaine fraud before he torched himself.

I'm looking forward to your post! :-) Also, never trust Wikipedia when it comes to the synopsis of the silent films: when I looked up the entry on the 1914 "Golem" that was written there and it's so much different from what can be read in the script (the Wikipedia synopsis claimed that the Golem fell in love with the antique dealer's wife and then went on a rampage when she didn't return his feeling). So really, people should be more cautious when trying to seek info on Wikipedia - because you never know how accurate the information might be. As for graphics: have you tried placing URL of the image between brackets?

How scary is that when so many people are taking it as the first place they go to look something up. I seem to remember that he even wrote his own Wiki page and I think it is still there. He was, in reality, an attempted serial killer since he was quoted as saying he wanted to take the whole building, people and all, down with him when he was taken out one time to see if he needed to be put away. I really wish all the harm he is still causing could somehow be obliterated. I am really saddened to see he is still duping unwary people on almost a daily basis.

I posted elswhere the scenario where someone not well versed in missing films who finds a film like LIFE WITHOUT SOUL in his attic or basement or at a garage sale, for example, and they go on the IMDb and see Psychopline's review and think it is not a lost film and then just sit on it thinking it is no big deal. It all actually works AGAINST the discovery of missing film with those bogus IMDb entries as far as I can see.

Feb 8 12 3:20 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	My computer went silent for a month, but it's back in order now. I'm most certainly not connected to any frauds whatsoever. I still think I have those digital files--if not, I can likely get them back. Included were a (very murky) still from Ramper, some reviews from the period, etc. I also have an industry-periodical review of Soul from its release period that carries enough differentiation to strongly support that the wacko who placed the phony 'review' online had never seen the film. I assume that to be the 'psycho nut' you're referring to. In my case I can actually present digital copies of original materials, not just hokey fiction. The LWS items I may use on another web page, but I'll try to get the Ramper material here as soon as I can. One problem with some sites is that they accept no responsibility for user content (i.e. IMDB, many other sites). I've been trying to get archive.org to change the classification of a fake King Kong 'radio show' which is in reality the Golden LP. Good luck getting responses from these people.

The images I have so far are in an album on this site in my photo album section, called Ramper. Each can be viewed separately (the album view looks cluttered, though). The text items didn't fare as well, if anyone needs them, just send me a private inquiry with an email address.The one still of the film is murky-looking, as that was the result of either the original scan or the technical result of the newspaper printing. The contemporary reviews of the film (there's more) strongly point how how a fraudulent current-day "reviewer" could claim they knew the plotline. Sound like a pretty neat plot and I'm a sucker for Wegener. IMO "The Magician" set the stage for the Universals (horror) of the thirties. Its like a blueprint of what was to come and may well be my favorite horror film. The Warner print is very nice considering and I've read that when it was made it looked stunning.
