Like I said in a nother post the first horror movies I ever got into were the 80's slashers like Freddy and Jason ect. Then found the older ones like Dracula, Wolf man, Frankenstein ect. Dracula scared the living crap out of me when I was little. Still creeps me out today but did not scare me like when I was little Which monster scared you the most as a kid? Post! Apr 11 09 10:32 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	The giant caterpillars in RODAN really scared me; I could never understand why the soldiers went into the mine to fight them instead of just blowing it up and sealing them in. There was no monster per se, but SCREAMING SKULL unnerved me so much as an 9 or 10 year old I couldn't finish watching it. It's not a great film, but it's an effective one. At the same age, I couldn't get past the first commercial of most OUTER LIMITS episodes (and the ones that I did see all the way through unnerved me by not ending the way a monster story should end -- as often as not, the monster won!). My mother and I watched Gargoyles on its first airing - actually, she watched, and I spent practically the entire movie with my eyes hidden. I remembered being frightened of the alien in It Came From Outer Space. Invaders From Mars kind of unnerved me. Oh, and maaaaany things from Night Gallery scared the crap out me. Too many to list! Apr 12 09 4:23 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	In the movie THE WEREWOLF, when the hunter follows Steven Ritch into a darkened cave and began to transform, there is a shot where he starts foaming at the mouth (like he's rabid) that scared the CRAP out of me as a kid. Also 'color' vampire films that actually showed blood...Ugh...!

Apr 13 09 9:19 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I found the fencing scene in Theater of Blood disturbing because I understood even as a kid that Price was toying with the hero, could kill him anytime he wanted. Other than that all of Jaws, Jason jumping out of the water in Friday the 13th, Freddy jumping from behind the bed in Elm Street 1 scared me. The monster going nuts when Fritz shows up with the torch was a bit jumpy the first time I saw it at age 5. But nothing was scarier than the Doctor Who stories The Brain of Morbius and the Stones of Blood.

Apr 13 09 9:21 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	- The Wolf Man - The old floating blind woman in House On Haunted Hill - The female demon succubus in the Kolchak The Night Stalker episode "Demon In Lace" - The prune-faced gnomes in the TV movie Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark - The Werewolf (when he's in the jail cell AND the afore mentioned cave scene) - The Vampire (when he tosses the guy into the furnace) - Giant From The Unknown (something really creeped me out about him. The fact that he didn't talk at all but just lurked was really scary to me). - The invisible bog monster in the Lost In Space episode "Ghost In Space". I used to have a heart attack when those foootprints would materialize out of nowhere across the misty, foggy marsh. "He coming!", I would silently scream inside. Also, when he materializes towards the end of the episode, I would nearly faint with fright. The resurrected Gypsy woman from Black Sabbath. The one and only time I ever covered my eyes in a movie theater. I first saw her/it at a Saturday afternoon monster movie festival in Daly City, California, and she still gets under my skin! Also, the opening credits of Night Gallery with all of those distorted faces coming at the screen. The creatures from Don't Be Afraid of the Dark and the titlular character of Hammer's The Reptile.

As the priest follows the blood up the rope, the tension darn near killed me. Later, when I saw the serving maid, dead with fangs, open eyes and all- I lost it. Nightmares 'til morning!

I remember staying to watch The Creeping Flesh one night on our local scary movie Nightmare Nickelodeon. The scenes of that nine foot tall monster in a hood and cape were so frightening I didn't sleep all night. Oh, and I also remember waking up in cold sweats after seeing Grizzly at the drive in. Of course I grew up in the deep dark woods and we actually had bears hanging around, so understandable. I also remember being really freaked out by Phantasm and Texas Chainsaw Massacre. And believe or not War of the Gargantuas. I still have deep water phobias thanks to that one. Apr 16 09 10:02 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	When I was about 4 or 5, I spent the night at a friend's house and we watched Lugosi's DRACULA and Lee's DRACULA, PRINCE OF DARKNESS on TV. I was totally unfamiliar with the concept of Vampires and his family had to explain the whole deal to me. I recall seeing Lugosi standing there bidding me welcome and being transfixed. Later, in PRINCE, there is a scene where a blonde woman is exploring Drac's castle in the middle of the night. She opens a door and Lee is standing there waiting for her. This scared the crap out of me. I had trouble sleeping for several nights thereafter and at one point, my mother applied crosses made of masking tape to the walls and door in my room to "protect" me.
