Night of the Creeps on DVD in October |
Lead | |
|
It's official Michael Felsher told Dead Pit Radio that Night of the Creeps Directors Cut Special Edition will be out on DVD. It's
due out in October. Michael Felsher said "Fred Dekker is already working on it. It's going to be the director's cut with the original
ending". Michael Felsher said "this will be no bare bone edition of Night of the Creeps. It will have lots of extras".

I didn't even know it originally had a different ending. I've always loved that movie and would like to get this DVD in my hot little hands.

Legend, oh legend, the third wheel legend...always in the way.

Great news, indeed! This is truly a classic of the 80s. I've been waiting for this for a looooong time. My Vhs is jus about shot after all this time.
I've seen both endings and prefer the theatrical original.

Finally, how long did it take for Sony to realize the potential aspects of releasing this flick?

Chris Koenig wrote:Thanks for bringing that up. I forgot to state that Sony Pictures had the rights to Night of the Creeps and I'm pleased they are giving this movie it's due. But I'm like everyone else wondering what took them so long. This should make them some cash and some fans very happy. |

Finally! I watched this as a kid and loved it.....due to no DVD it's been hard to find anyone to talk about it with.

I had high hopes when Monstersquad finally saw DVD life, but, hey, better late than never.

Coughcool wrote:Well, Sony was never quite on the ball when it comes down to their cult films and back catalogue titles. I mean, "Battle in Outer Space" NEVER had an American VHS release back in the late 80s to middle 90s...yet now it's showing up on the upcoming Sony release of their Toho sci-fi titles! Seriously, what took so long here?! Director Fred Dekker has requested Sony to put "Night of the Creeps" on DVD for quite some time, yet Sony expressed little-to-no interest primarily due to feeling it wouldn't make any money because it's an old movie. Sony displayed the same attitude when MGM spent two years restoring "Witchfinder General": MGM was ready to put it on DVD, yet when the company was bought out by Sony they told MGM it wasn't worth the release because it's an old film. Remember, MGM spent two years and some real money on the restoration, so to Sony that's nothing. However, now that Sony is greenlighting "Night of the Creeps" for a DVD release, it's rather stunning that Sony has decided to go thru with it. I wonder what the change in "policy" made them come to this decision? Nonetheless, I'm happy it's happening. |

I'm looking forward to this release. However, I hope Sony will include both the original Director's cut and the Theatrical cut. I see on the list it
mentions "original theatrical ending" and I'm gonna' assume that means an 'extra'. I know the Theatrical ending isn't big with
the fans, but I enjoyed that ending for what it was worth.
Again, hoping that Sony does release both versions: that would be better and they can do it. |

Hope they consider DVD branching. But then, I'm also curious if Sony will do the same for "Battle in Outer Space"...so far, my gut says
'no'.

Okay, so which ending was the theatrical one? The one with the dog or the one with the searchlights?

The theatrical ending was the one with the dog; the one involving the aliens and searchlights was the original ending that was used for it's later TV
release. Dekker prefers the original ending due to the theatrical ending being forced upon by Tri-Star.
