May 8 12 10:04 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I saw the the movie, and it was great. It had a feel of a Stooges short. What bothered me a bit was the part that it took place in modern times, the present instead of the 1950's. I did the math on when the stooges were born in this movie. 1977. After the stooges came out the sac as babies, there is text that reads 10 years later. After that scene where they are kids, cut to a scene where they are adults that starts out as 25 years later. After 25 years it's 2012. Go back. 1987. Now go back ten years, it's 1977. Also, the car gave me a clue that it looks so seventies. Moving on, another scene that bothered me, was that after Larry and Curly hi-lick maneuver a dolphin, the peanut flies out and bounces all over the zoo and bounces off a lion's testicles. What? Lion balls? I blame THE SIMPSONS MOVIE, WATCHMEN and BRUNO or creating this unhealthy trend. Yuck! Also, a rat going down a hot girl's cleavage. With those two scenes, it would get a PG-13 rating! But look on the bright side, at least there is no profanity. The modern settings like Moe being on THE JERSEY SHORE and calling a butler C3PO seem kind of odd. I don't like (and watch) THE JERSEY SHORE, but anything anti-JERSEY SHORE brightens up my day.

May 15 12 1:10 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I walked away from this movie with a big smile on my face. Some people are being way too harsh on this film, without even giving it a chance which is a real shame. These actors did a marvelous job bringing these "characters" back to life.

Laughed out loud nonstop from tip to tail. Absolute genius. The boys were even more convincing than I'd expected. Love the way they update the time tested routines (Moe to unconscious nun: "Speak to me. Say a few parables.")

Jun 30 12 6:12 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	THE THREE STOOGES is currently just shy of $44m at the b.o. Budget was $30m so it probably won't break even ($60m needed) in the U.S. Hasn't been released overseas, though, so could end up with a profit. Then there's sales from DVDs.

There was two or three amusing moments but most of this film is down right embarrassing. It has easily supplanted the dreadful DARK SHADOWS satire as the worst film I've seen this year. 1 out of 10.

Maybe it's because each is so different from the usual by-the-numbers Summer crap you usually get, or 'cuz the characters they were recreating were just so darn appealing, I dunno. But I would watch either again at the drop of a ticket stub.

I originally saw this at the theater with a crowd who loved it. It was really the only time that I had seen a stooge product on the big screen so maybe that added to my enjoyment. The script is just not very good which is unfortunate because the guys are AMAZING. Rather than make a full length feature I think they should have just released a series of shorts with these actors. Lets face it, the stooges have never really worked very well in a full length feature film

I might amend your statement to say the Stooges don't work "as well" in features as their short films. However, I like HAVE ROCKET WILL TRAVEL, THE THREE STOOGES MEET HERCULES, and THE THREE STOOGES IN ORBIT a lot. Great movies? No. As good as their best shorts? Perhaps not. But certainly enjoyable and well worth seeing for a Stooge fan. THE THREE STOOGES GO AROUND THE WORLD IN A DAZE and THE OUTLAWS IS COMING also have their charms. I like Curley Joe but prefer Curly and Shemp. Joe Besser had his points, too. So the bulk of their feature film output is "Old Stooges minus Curly and Shemp" vs. their short films featuring "Young Stooges with Curly and Shemp."

Jul 21 12 8:28 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Well, their starring features are from the sixties when Larry and Moe are in their sixties and the third Stooge is the least of the replacements. They are not doing the heavy slapstick anymore, partly because of age and partly because they are now icons of children. I remember seeing them on the local show hosted by Don Lamond with Moe emphasizing nobody got hurt by the eye poke. Considering all that, the features are not bad especially compared to late Laurel and Hardy. I saw Around the World in a Daze a few months back and it is a rather pleasant movie with De Rita for once doing a decent job of stepping in for Curly in a reprise of the Rajah routine.
