I can understand the feelings of those who resent the imitation/reincarnation of actual people, but somehow it doesn't bother me. Maybe the fact that I'm only mildly a Stooges fan just doesn't give me the same emotional investment. Still, I think it looks like it might be funny and I'll gladly give it a try.

Dec 25 11 9:08 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	The inclusion of Jersey Shore's "Snookie" (or whatever her name is) is so "yesterday's cabbage" it isn't funny. I mean, that might have been funny to some people about four years ago when she and the show were hot and current, but now? It just badly dates the trailer and cheapens the whole proceedings. What, did they film this movie a few years ago and now it's finally getting released after it's been sitting around rotting in a film canister? Humbug! For this new movie, all they need is a reason to be transported from the 1930's into the 2010's, and then their craziness can take care of the rest from there. Do we need to know why imbecile physicians are allowed free reign in a hospital? Or why cavemen speak Brooklynese? This is precisely why that Stooges movie that does use a time machine (...MEET HERCULES), or the short where they need to raise funds for the kid's operation or whatever, are among their least funny. The 'orphanage' set-up here sounds more than sufficient, and even that might be overdoing it. << Do The Three Stooges even need a plot? << Naw -- just a little imagination. I don't think modern audiences have lost that yet. At least I hope not.

I'm not sure the actors would have to resemble those original actors (at least sans monster makeup) but this is definitely something I would like to see, as long as it was filmed and scored in the classic style and not some VAN HELSING claptrap.

Then he borrows Larry too, who knows how to play "Pop Goes The Weasel" on his fiddle, because that tune drives Curly nuts. Nobody's saying they had complicated or intricate plots. Dec 26 11 1:05 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I've noticed that modern comedies like say HORRIBLE BOSSES or THE HANGOVER have a lot of set-up to the gags, and they're pretty funny, whereas more "non-sequiter" films like AIRPLANE or maybe BEERFEST rely less on setup and more on gags. And they're pretty funny too. It'll be interesting to see which way this Stooge movie rolls. PUNCH DRUNKS is great -- it's an early one, and sets up the "Stooge Dynamic" well. So well, in fact, that I think most of the later shorts benefit from it, and need less explaining to the audience. Maybe that will carry over to this new one too? I like ...MEETS HERCULES for nostalgic reasons -- I think I saw it first run, or close too it -- but not because it's fall down funny. It's just cute to see the Stooges carrying a feature. I hope the new one will appeal for the same reason.
