I'm just curious about peoples' thoughts regarding the "new" Twilight Zones that ran from 1985-89, and then again in 2002-03. Chiller has
started showing the earlier series and a local channel is showing the 2002 version, and I've been collecting them. I've watched, so far, from 1985
"Nightcrawlers," which I really liked, and "A Little Peace and Quiet," which I found... ehhhh, OK (should have been better, with Wes
Craven as the director).
I actually remember watching the "Peace and Quiet" episode when it was first run in 1985, and being put off by the whole idea of the series. I'm pretty sure I never watched another one.
Man, I was such a curmudgeon when I was younger. I thought Serling's memory was being violated, that "modern" horror TV shows couldn't be any good because they were, well, "modern." My whacked-out theories also applied to shows like "Tales from the Darkside," "Tales from the Crypt," "The New Outer Limits," etc.
One good thing that came out of it was that I'm enjoying those shows now as if they were brand new. Anyway, just looking for others' opinions on the "tribute" shows to Serling's original creation. At least he gets top billing as being the creator, and in the 1985 series they have a seriously cool opening (with the music written and performed by The Grateful Dead!), where his image is shown in an eerie silhouette.
