As some of you know, I was one of the writers on the old THUNDARR THE BARBARIAN animated series in the 1980s. THUNDARR is currently in re-runs on Boomerang
late in the evening, and I've been taking advantage of this to burn higher quality DVDs instead of my original broadcast-to-VHS-to-DVD dupes.
One episode I didn't write (it may have been story editor Steve Gerber or else Marty Pasko or Mark Evanier) is "Valley of the Man-Apes" in which Thundarr & co. encounter the epynonymous simians in the ruins of a 20th century movie studio, clearly based on Universal Studios but never mentioned by name. I had forgotten the episode climaxes with a giant robot ape running rampant until hacked papart by Thundarr's light sabre -- er, sun sword.
In any case, since there were only 17 or so THUNDARR episodes, the shows cycle through about once every three weeks. Those of you who get Boomerang might want to take a peek.
