I'm tired of double-dipping, no matter how great the image is, so I'll only be getting Blu-Rays of new movies and titles that I already own but must
have! From the list on Page 1, I only want SWEENEY TODD and BATMAN (1966). I am tempted to get BEETLEJUICE and NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS, but I'll have to
wait and see.

Looks like Vincent isn't on the Blu-Ray version of Nightmare Before Christmas. I want that short even more than the main feature. Hope I'm wrong.

BLUE UNDERGROUND has announced the first horror title in their line-up for November 18th, Dario Argento's STENDHAL SYNDROME. The retail is 34.95, so at
discount pricing my guess is out-of-pocket will be around $24.

I have been told that the OPTIMUM UK releases of THE FOG and ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK (Due August 5) are region A and B, so the they should play in the US, so I
have added them to the release calender. THE FOG is the same master as was used for the HD DVD, which isn't great, but is still an improvement on the R1
DVD.

Now this is sweet news, the original BLACK CHRISTMAS is coming to Blu-ray November 11th! It's a really good sign IMO when stuff like this starts making the
jump.

Against my better judgment I ordered THE TERROR (Due 8/26/08), guess curiosity and a cheap price got the best of me. I have lowered my expectations to the
degree that it will be hard to be disappointed unless it's a no-show; so far it exists only as a listing void of all detail on Amazon.

The Terror is one of my favorite movies, if only for Karloff's performance as the self-tormented soul, which is a character type I came to really
appreciate because of Poe. But it's also something that can look really good at times, and at other times, particularly in the woods, really needs to look
good. At that price, I have little hope, but... well... Thanks for being the guinea pig. Please let us know how it turns out.
By the way, I was surprised that Dark City with all its cgi, would be such an improvement. Little did I know, and didn't think that most of it isn't cgi, and is really dark and gorgeous in that noir sort of way. But that leads me to a question... Is it important at all to have Blu-Ray resolution for a cartoon like Nightmare Before Christmas? I enjoyed it in the theater, but am really more interested in the Vincent short that comes with the SD special edition. I might pick up Caligula. Not that I want it, but I knew someone in it, and always wondered what she looked like... err... in "costume" |

It's official, November 18th begins the first roll-out of Criterion Blu-ray. THE THIRD MAN & THE MAN WHO FELL TO EARTH are the two I'll be aiming
for. Word is that Criterion intends to charge equal pricing for DVD and Blu.
