(04/08/09 6:01 PM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite	I was listening to this program awhile back and nearly jumped out of my seat when the sound of the fatal shot sounded. Even though I knew it was coming there was something shocking about it. I almost felt as though I had been shot myself.

(04/08/09 10:56 PM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite	I'm very tardy at posting my very favorable impressions of Lincoln's Last Day. It's really a first-class work. I'm not a radio buff, but am something of a minor league Lincoln buff. And this presentation catches the humanity and the history beautifully. The performances and the production are first rate. Our own Craig Wichman is terrific as Honest Abe, and his work as writer is exemplary. One of my favorite things about this play--and I've already told Craig this--is how he manages to weave all the little nuggets of history and historical trivia so seamlessly into the dialogue. Everyone should really give this a listen. It's terrifically entertaining, illuminating and even moving.

"I... nearly jumped out of my seat when the sound of the fatal shot sounded. Even though I knew it was coming there was something shocking about it." I can hardly tell you how much that means to me, Doc. It is obviously hard to finesse a piece like this, where everyone knows what's coming. But as I wrote it, and as we performed it, one of our main goals was to "lull" listeners with the everydayness of that day, so that - if possible! - they'd react in just the way you did. Which, of course, was exactly how the poor folks in Ford's, on that horrible Good Friday, felt. "Our own Craig Wichman is terrific as Honest Abe" I love the man dearly, Rick; so, especially coming from a fellow board-trodder, that means a very great deal indeed to me. NEWS FLASH: Your posts are actually timely, as we may be performing some of our pieces live again. Beginning with this one, this summer in the NYC area. Again, heartfelt thanks, -Craig W.
