I really like INVISIBLE ENEMY. The one with Adam West, I think it is real creepy. Second would be THE ARCHITECTS OF FEAR, then THE SIXTH FINGER.

OL die-hard here. I like 'em all and have many favorites, but THE MAN WHO WAS NEVER BORN would come first followed closely by THE ARCHITECTS OF FEAR.

Beat me to it!! I was going to say the ZANTI MISFITS because I remember how spooky that was to me as a kid. But probably a better episode is THE SIXTH FINGER or the DEMON WITH THE GLASS HAND.

For sheer nostalgic reasons, The Zanti Misfits. They were the coolest monsters to a 10 year old kid. Warren Oates taking off his goggles in The Mutant and the alien contestants from Fun and games, too. They always looked great on the Outer Limits trading cards.

As far as favorite episodes as an adult, The Sixth Finger, Soldier and The Architects of Fear.

I read The Watchmen graphic novel a couple of years ago, and a reveal of a major plot element toward the end had me saying, "Hey! They took that from the Outer Limits' The Architects of Fear!" Ironically, a couple of panels from the end one of the characters turns away from watching TV, and while they are speaking to somebody else you can see a little voice balloon to the side, indicating the TV in the background, saying something like, "We now return you to The Architects of Fear from The Outer Limits." I thought it was a cute acknowledgment to us fanboys. Although, according to Wikipedia, Watchmen author Alan Moore, "while he was around issue 10, he came across a guide to cult television that featured this episode and was surprised by its similarity to his already planned ending."

Better hurry, Cap, before someone decides to colorized them and replace the original effects with CG gobbledygook (ala STAR TREK TOS). Sounds outrageous, right? - I wouldn't be shocked though as nothing is sacred anymore. While they're at it, they could take another lead from TREK and tweak Dominic Frontiere's scores. My Top Four, not in order of preference,--here they are:

Don't Open Till Doomsday: Beyond weird; thoughtful; pure Stefano; surreal, scary. I love the non-linear storytelling. The business with David Frankham being sucked into the black box by the eyeball damn near gave me nightmares when I first watched it. Kudos to this one for its Jazz Age mood early on, with the big house and the wedding party like something out of Scott Fitzgerald.

The Guests: More strangeness; people trapped in time by an alien; a love story; an inquisitive alien; an angry young man; Burt Mustin, Luana Anders, Gloria Grahame, Vaughn Taylor,--what's not to like? The imagery is often striking, such as the sealed windows,--most disturbing--and yet the episode is, for all this, maybe the most sensitive and tender of all entries in the original series. Wistful sci-fi? I don't know what else to call it. Solid and steady from beginning to end.

The Invisibles: Maybe the most daring episode, a cautionary tale with a gay alien subtext, most unusual for its time, suspenseful, spooky, the action and suspense never let up. The ending does not disapppoint. Don Gordon is superb in the lead, Walter Burke, downright peculiar (but then when wasn't he?), Neil Hamilton's over the top, as is George Macready, as is Richard Dawson, as are the little clattering horseshoe crab-like things the aliens use to initiate "earthlings". Terrific, creative storytelling, unsettling from start to finish.

Forms Of Things Unknown: Maybe the the brainiest and certainly the "artiest" of all Outer Limits; to say that this one pushes the envelope is a gross understatement: it is the frickin' envelope. Gorgeous photography, a credible and haunting European atmosphere, fine performances from Vera Miles, Barbara Rush, Scott Marlowe, Cedric Hardwicke and, of course, David McCallum, as the man who likes to play tricks with time. A stunning episode, and a masterpiece of the eerie and otherworldly. Needless to say, I like it. In my ideal boob tube alternate universe this is what television would be like.

DEMON WITH THE GLASS HAND tied with THE MAN WHO WAS NEVER BORN!

OL is my favorite TV series of all time, so obviously I like most of the episodes A LOT. I could just go on listing episode after episode for 'runners up', but DON'T OPEN TILL DOOMSDAY, FORMS OF THINGS UNKOWN, THE SIXTH FINGER, THE BELLERO SHIELD and THE INVISIBLES I need special mention.

Does anyone besides me think of Leslie Steven's INCUBUS as a kind of "lost episode" of OL (and a great one, at that)?

Almost an impossible one to answer as there is an OUTER LIMITS to suit almost any mood i am in. COLD HANDS,WARM HEART tho not one of the best is a sentimental favorite as it was the first episode i ever saw at my grandmothers house as a kid and i still love that weird wispy alien floating outside the ships window. For pure sci fi storytelling,i go with THE MAN WHO WAS NEVER BORN. My wife had never seen OUTER LIMITS (as she grew up in Japan) and this is the first episode she ever saw and she was very impressed at how this almost 50 year old BW TV show held up over all these years. For pure horror,i would go with THE ZANTI MISFITS and those iconic human faced bugs. I could list about 10 more that are favorites such as ARCHITECTS OF FEAR (love the bizarre alien design), NIGHTMARE, INVISIBLE ENEMY, SOLDIER, DEMON WITH A GLASS HAND and one not mentioned much that i always thought had a great scenario is A FEASABILITY STUDY. Ever since seeing it for the first time years ago,i always thought the ending resonated well and was a pretty bleak yet hopeful climax for a TV show to have. Its always been unfortunate that most people never hold OUTER LIMITS up to the same level of classic material like STAR TREK or TWILIGHT ZONE,as i think OL at its best can trump either show.

THE OUTER LIMITS and THE PRISONER are the 2 best series from the '60s for me. Don't get me wrong. I also love THE TWILIGHT ZONE and STAR TREK, but OL and 6 are essential parts of my inner galaxy being. Could not live without them!
