Either bots or determind jerks, we have banned them, deleted them, banned their IP addresses but the bit torrent bootleg movies spam keeps comimg. Any other ideas out there? We could require registration approval to be a member, or those horrible type-in-the-letters-you-see anti-bot boxes before posting (if that's even an optiom), , but dont want tohave to do that.

A number of us have raised some decent concerns, and also offered some good alternatives, but I'm not sure I have ever seen a response from you guys. (As usual, I pause to say that you guys do the best job around of moderating...but your job might be even easier for you if the server company was better.)

Aug 7 12 5:02 PM Burgomaster Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Well, I don't think the spam problem is so out of control that we should think about those awful 'capcha' letter things before signing in. I'm not even sure Yuku allows those? -- We could require approval before signing up at CHFB. Though not sure we want to hold down participation with one of those. I usually stop at that point on other sites. -- As for switching sites, I can't think of anything more fraught with worry, but it could be worth talking about. Making all this pale in comparison is that Yuku is indeed moving toward a new look and feel. The one I saw looks sorta like Windows8, where every forum would be a box with art or something. I'm hoping we can opt out and keep this look -- I can't imagine the uproar! -- but haven't explored deeply enough -- nor have Gary or Kerry I imagine. Anyways, we shall see. Thanks for everyone's suggestions. We'll make no moves -- if any -- without consultation!

Aug 8 12 10:56 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	There is a number of things about Spammers that make them more than just a nuisance: -They eat away at view counts that members have paid for. I personally haven't contributed to the 'anti-ad' campaign because I would rather pay YOU(David, Kerry, Gary) than a non-entity that cares very little about keeping spammers away. -They often overtake 'new-thread' space, and in the fast paced internet world, if I were a new member(scratch that, I'm an old member and STILL...) and I loaded the forum for the first time and found 3-4 top threads posted by spambots, I might turn around and never come back! Who needs to deal with that if you can go somewhere else that doesn't have that same problem. No site is perfect, but I'm just sayin'... -They pose security threats. If someone comes here and is posting links to illegal downloads, or links to viruses, or just plain scams they can ruin an honest members computer/bank account/life in seconds! This shouldn't just be shrugged off as 'just those annoying spammers'. (Not saying you have approached it that way, but explaining my thoughts.) If YUKU has little interest in screening new members then whats the point in staying here? What if there were a way for new members to only be able to post after they connected with one of the mods somehow? A simple 'write a short description of your favorite movie, and once we've read it we'll unlock your account for open use'...
