Ray had spent three or four days in the hospital in Los Angeles following the screening at the LACMA then was hospitalized again upon returning to Las Vegas until recently. Ray Dennis Steckler touched many in his life and it goes without saying that his talent and wit shall be greatly missed. I understand plans are underway for a funeral on Sunday January 11th? He was a huge inspiration to me to actually start making my own movies. Especially his atitude of working with what you have and being spontanous, just going out into the street and filming something. Does anyone have any info about the unreleased Jungle movie that he shot in the 1960s with Bob Burns as Kogar and Ron Haydock? Was it ever finished? He said he still had the footage and I believe it was completed. Also does anyone know if it is still possible to get his sequel to the Incredibly Strange Creatures..., One More Time, or the series of documentarys he did on his hometown of Reading, PA? I would really like to get copies of them. I had been meaning to get them for a while(I have the One More Time preview and one volume of Reading)but I just didn't think about this happening....or I guess I didn't want to...

Jello Biafra stalked Steckler on stage wearing a hoodie, and Ray later directed me in a video he was shooting there. He talked about a project he was planning about a couple old guys walking down the highway. I wonder if he ever gotthat done? A warm, funny guy. It was a pleasure to meet him on a couple of his trips to Northern California. I'm glad to hear he was still getting around.

First Edmund Purdom (the most underrated actor ever and a personal fave), now Ray Dennis Steckler! When I read the news I was quite shocked; I heard Ray was having some health problems but I didn't think it would end like this. I'm really bumbed by this news because I was hoping to attempt to contact Ray within the month to ask a few questions about his films. I really enjoyed his films and his interviews/commentaries; he was an unpretencious filmmaker and it's a shame there are so few left like him. RIP Ray and God bless. Your work will be remembered.
