I was considering the purchase of a blu-ray player last week assuming I had the necessary connections on my big screen. I bought my big screen back in '04
(50" Sony Grand WEGA) and apparently it was just prior to HDMI being a standard option on big screens. My monitor has only a DVI connection available
(along with component, composite and s-video) and I've been told that in order to make the most of a blu-ray unit, I need to use HDMI. I found a HDMI-DVI
adapter at Best Buy that the salesman said would be a seamless conversion to get a blu-ray player to work to its fullest on my big screen. Anyone have any
experience or knowledge on this subject? I really don't want to go out and buy another big screen as I am very happy with my Sony - but I do want to
upgrade to a blu-ray disc player. Is the adapter the best option? and will the picture be the same as if I actually had a HDMI connection installed on my big
screen?
