The director (Gary Sherman) also made the memorable Death Line (featuring my favorite Donald Pleasance performance) and the underated Poltergeist III. This one is definitely worth a "buy" over a "rental"..

Jan 21 09 5:54 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	One of the great forgotten films of the 80s that at the very least gave you a scenario that wasn't in line with what everybody was doing at the time. The obligatory bleak ending was always an interesting coda and the violence in the film has a mile wide mean streak missing from alot of films of the time (with the first victim especially being one of the most unfortunate individuals in horror history,with his one-two punch of abuses). Solid acting is on display and a film with nothing but older leads is always a welcome thing. Stan Winston supplied the realistic FX work (except one truly awful insert...trust me,you'll know it when you see it). DEAD AND BURIED also sports one of my favorite horror titles of all time and one of the best under rated posters that sells the film with a bizarre image that doesn't give anything away while being genuinely interesting to look at.

Lots of familiar faces, Barry Corbin, Robert Englund, and the unforgettable Lisa Blount, whose hospital visit was not to be missed. It truly is a depressingly nasty viewing, yet it's still curiously forgotten, but not in the deserved fashion of something like FINAL EXAM.

Having viewed it a few times since those days, I have to say that the film strikes me as very surreal at times. It smacks of a nightmare-like quality such as CARNIVAL OF SOULS or PHANTASM in many aspects.
