Many serials seemed to be based on action/adventure characters, for obvious reasons. People loved to see chases and explosions week after week. But I was wondering why more serials didn't have outright supernatural or horror elements to them. Things like vampires, zombies, or ghosts? I know it would take time to make up actors in complex werewolf guise, but zombies don't cost much. If movies like House of Frankenstein were considered kiddie-fare, and serials were aimed at kids in the first place, I wonder why horror themes weren't explored more, even if they weren't scary.
