Saw a DVD at a flea market years ago but didn't have the cash to pick it up. Sounds like it could be fun along the lines of The Giant Claw.

But the best part of this movie isnt included with any regular release - the Tom Weaver/director commentary is quite a rollercoaster ride.

The book is interesting enough -- The 2008 movie Splinter captures the central gimmick better than the 1966 straight adaptation does.

Writer-director Hoey would also love to have a second version of the movie on the same DVD -- a version with all the extra scenes written and directed by Arthur C. Pierce removed, to give viewers SOME idea of what the movie he made woulda been like. It'd take some doing, and there might have to be a couple intertitles 'splaining a few things, but I'd love to see it.

Jul 6 12 11:48 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	The movie is pretty terrible but perversly fascinating. I developed a crush on Kay Elhardt and watched the lousy thing whenever it was on. Mamie Van Doren was too old by then to have any real sex appeal, but was competent in her role. Sorry, there's no nice way to say it. Evidence of this is the fact that Kay Elhardt played the pretty girl. She was always getting attacked or kissed. -And she wasn't even on the poster!! It's not like I have high expectations for anybody in that film. Mamie was good as the hot girl in films like Teacher's Pet and High School Confidential, but by NvsNM she was past her prime. There! That's nicer. -Plus she was being sabotaged by a pretty lousy wardrobe in that film.
