I believe Beverly had a stroke late in 2007. She is a jewel and I am pulling for her.

Thanks for the heads up, Tom; we should all pray for this lovely, talented lady who has been a true Original in every thing she has done. She always
delivered an intelligent, well-thought out performance in every situation and role, which I would bet my last dollar truly reflects the real-life Beverly as
well. I would think that you feel fortunate to know her, because I know I would feel blessed.

Met her at Happy Hour at FOTR a few years back, and she was as feisty & warm as on screen.
Prayers from here. -Craig |

She was terrific when I met her at a con in 1993. Just really vibrant, full of life, very friendly. I just watched her rare turn as a chimpanzee interrogator
in an episode of the PLANET OF THE APES TV SERIES.
Very sorry to hear she is having rough times.

Oh no, that's terrible news! I was hoping to meet her one of these days. I even had her as my desktop BG last week. A very classy and talented lady.

Garland was one of the first celebrities I met after moving to L.A. There was a tiny, hole-in-the-wall place calling itself the Cinema Cafe. They had a
little counter in the front selling sandwiches, and in the back room would project 16mm prints of films onto a small screen while the audience sat in folding
chairs. The was a skylight in the room so it was never completely dark during the day. One Saturday or Sunday they did a triple feature of 1950's sci-fi
films and had John Agar and Beverly Garland there to speak. Garland came to this little rinky-dink place to talk to the 20 or so people there and was just a
delight--funny, energetic, telling one great anecdote after another. She joked that she didn't understand why anybody was still interested in these old
monster movies, but as long as someone was asking questions about them, she'd be willing to answer. She was completely charming; I liked her instantly. I
saw her a few times after that at conventions and nothing ever changed those initial impressions of her.

I really like Beverly very much. I had no idea she'd had a stroke, nor that she is now again ill. My thoughts and prayers are with her, her family and her
many good friends. She's a darling gal and funny as the day is long. She tells a terrific story, too. All positive thoughts to you m'love! All fingers
and toes (and eyes) crossed that you'll be feeling better very soon!

Absolutely love her feistiness in '50s films like IT CONQUERED THE WORLD and SWAMP DIAMONDS. Best wishes and positive vibes to Ms. Garland.

Beverly Garland always gave a class A performance... Her characters had a liveliness that made an occasionally dull picture better...
All my good thoughts and Prayers for her recovery... Bill Schafer |

She was particularly good in "Smoke Screen," an early episode of THE FUGITIVE. Here's hoping her health takes a dramatic turn for the better
very soon!
