IRON SKY.

I've been curious of this movie for a long time now. Years, I have been anticipating this.
So, I bought the DVD of it yesterday.

I hate to say this, but I thought it sucked.
I find the basic premise very interesting. The idea of a secret German moonbase, and flying saucers interest me, and I like to entertain the idea that there may be some truth to it.

But that does not save this movie for me. Nor does it's look, visuals, costumes, and effects.
But I also must say the most impressive aspects of this movie is that.
To me, it has a great look about it. Very good looking effects, moonbase, spacecraft... I sometimes admit an anti-CGI bias, but this looked good to me.
Same with the sets and costumes. It looks really nice.

But I also read before I finally saw this, it was a "comedy". So, I was apprehensive... It seems too much, a lack of a good story, film makers opt out and just try the "comedy" route.
But to me, this fails. I enjoy a lot of comedy things, even if they are not "funny", as I just enjoy watching it.
This just was not, and the visuals did not save it.

The story here is just weak and dumb. As are the characters. Stupid. A Sarah Palin characature playing the "President". The attemps as humour just fell flat, and are not funny, at all.
The use of unfunny racial humour attempts also marred this film, and it seems it was a main, or reoccurring tactic.
It's another disappointment, because with the basic premise, and nice effects, it could have been a really good dramatic sci-fi, with a good story.

Glad I only paid $12 for it.

OHHH myyyy...... flashback. Thank you for mentioning Nazis at the Center of the Earth. I had never heard of this before. I just watched some youtube trailers and clips of this, and this looks way way better than Iron Sky. Robot Hitler.... now this looks good.

Any other movies like this you know of?

I had to buy the DVD of the Nazis at the Center of the Earth. That scene with robo Hitler, and prepare the Vril itself is better than all of Iron Sky, which I watched again today.
The second viewing was better, but it still suffers from a dumb story and bad characters.

I found the movie too racial based, and it bogged it down, and was not funny.
It was overall better after the second viewing though. But still the effects and visuals are the highpoint.
