Nov 18 08 6:01 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	One William Castle film I haven't seen discussed here (though I've only been here a few months) is "I Saw What You Did," which I think is a great one, in a pretty "unassuming" way. And in many ways, I guess it was the forerunner of the "teenagers in peril" kind of horror film (even though it came AFTER countless teen-ORIENTED ones of other kinds). In fact, even though I've never seen "I Know What You Did Last Summer", the title certainly sounds like a tribute to this movie. Nov 18 08 11:36 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	This was a favorite when I was a kid. Watched it every time it showed up on the late movie. I recently saw it again after 30 years and, of course, it didn`t hold up for me. It is like watching a kiddy movie with scenes of brutal violence added for the adults. But I still have fond memories of watching it as a kid.

I also liked it as a kid, but seeing it again as a grown-up (or what passes for one in CHFB Land), it wasn't so hot. I liked the PSYCHO-like shower murder scene and a few other things, but the silly music (which sounds like "nyah-nyah-nyah-nyah-NYAH-nyah"), all the cutesy scenes with the little girl, and the way that murderer Ireland almost becomes a subplot were annoying. Andi Garrett, one of the teen girls, was Robert Conrad's mistress (brrrr).

Nov 19 08 12:58 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I thought Andi Garrett was incredibly cute, but MAN, does she overact... her eyes almost never stop rolling! We just watched this one and while it has its ups and downs, we found it to be very entertaining. I loved the strange look to all the exteriors... very matte-like. The funniest thing in the whole film is the ending. SPOILER... One minute, Andi's being strangled by a crazed murderer and is screaming for her life... the second he's dispatched, she smiles sheepishly at her parents for all the trouble she's caused, and trundles off to bed as if nothing had happened! Nov 19 08 7:32 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Some of this really belongs in TV Terrors, but also belongs here. From about 1986-89, there was a trend of making TV remakes of early ' 60s horror films, especially the non-supernatural kind. There was "Whatever Happened To Baby Jane?" - this time with real-life sisters (Lynn and Vanessa Redgrave) - which was considered AWFUL, and "The Bad Seed," which I think was just considered very bland. Anyway, someone also remade I Saw What You Did, and I at least think it worked pretty well. It had Keith Carradine as Steve (or was that his name this time?), and David Carradine (who also played "Leroy" in the Bad Seed remake) as his brother. It gave the story a surprise ending, of a kind I don't usually like, but this time I thought it was kind of clever.

Nov 22 08 12:04 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I remember seeing the remake when it aired...I remember nothing about it other than Shawnee Smith (lately of the Saw movies) and the girl from Full House was in it. Never seen the original. Hm, according to the IMDB it won an Emmy? That doesn't sound right... "The important question is not, are there aliens on other worlds? Dec 24 08 12:44 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	John Ireland really creeped me out in this movie. I've always liked it. I showed it a few years back to my daughter who was about 14 at that time. Set the mood by turning out all the lights and warned that this movie would be really scary. She was so disappointed! I guess it's not sophisticated enough for the kids of today. But oh well I always like the spiffy score and the just the entire mood of the movie. "I saw what I saw when I saw it!"

This was just awful, with cheesy "teenagers" straight out of Leave it to Beaver--complete with the wacky little sister who keeps getting into mischief. And talk about over-acting!! Just watch the girls making their oh-so-daring prank phone calls--the stupid expressions on their faces and their syrupy sweet deliveries. Ick! Joan Crawford gets the prize for over the top histrionics when she catches that "little tramp" peeking into John Ireland's window. That scene alone is worth a look at I Saw What you Did. Joan yanks the bimbo's hair out by the roots, all the while screaming "get OUDDA HEAH!" over and over again. Whoa. John Ireland was dour in this, maybe realizing just how far his career had tumbled since his glory days. The celebrated outside shots referred to in another posting look more like Beaver's backlot street, now the home of several desperate housewives. As a horror film, this is tame, tame, tame. Nice, creepy b&w cinematography with plenty of eerie fog. My only real complaint is the music. As I was watching I kept thinking, "Boy, if the music just had a more sustained sinister tone, this could've been really scary!" As is, I liked it and wished I'd seen it as a kid, 'cause I know it would've scared me. Strangenstein

Aug 4 12 8:26 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Saw this as a kid in the early 80s on the WPIX "Channel 11 Film Festival" late one night. Everyone else in the house was already asleep, and the idea of an adult trying to kill kids scared the Schlitz out of me, especially the fog-shrouded scenes near the end. At that age, the cutesy acting and music didn't occur to me, so wrapped in youthful late-night fear was I. I eagerly picked up the Columbia DVD when it was released and was shocked (SHOCKED, I say!) to see how much the flick felt like a Disney movie at times, especially the out-of-place music. Still like it, though.
