ALL are most welcome - especially first-timers!' I'd love to join, but unfortunately I don't have the right java plug in or some such, and it's taking me a long time to figure out, and I kinda gave up for the time being. I'm running Linux mint. Sent some of my old clippings concerning Warner Oland to her Chan page. Lots of fun and interesting things at that site.

I definitely want to meet up this Sat for FMTWM, and hope to see you there in our chat room here! Thanks for doing some checking on my chat room issues with the Chan site. Flash I was able to install, after some work, but Java seems to be what their room needs, and I have tried it, but it didn't work. I'll keep trying to figure it out.

Jul 1 12 10:45 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I have the five Chan box sets from 20th Century Fox, plus the TCM Spotlight Chan Collection. Last weekend at the Monster Bash film convention I picked up another Chan box set, this time featuring In the Secret Service, The Chinese Cat, The Jade Mask, The Scarlet Clue and The Shanghai Cobra. I've only watched the first two so far but have enjoyed them, with The Chinese Cat being the (much) stronger of the two (imho). I do enjoy the Monogram Chans, but the main drawback is the music. It often sounds like generic studio music that doesn't always fit the tone or tempo of the scene(s). Still, the mysteries proper are decent and the acting good. Strangenstein

Jul 3 12 8:35 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I watched the last three Chan films in this box set, The Jade Mask, The Scarlet Clue and The Shanghai Cobra and enjoyed all of them. The last one, Shanghai Cobra was the only one to have any audio problems. Nothing major, just some popping and clicking, then a readjustment of volume about 2/3rds of the way through. The music was better in these last three than with the first two in this set. Also, Chan isn't quite as warm toward his son(s), but there are moments where he shows genuine warmth and concern for their well-being. I only have a couple more Toler films to collect, then the final 5 Winters movies. Strangenstein
