I can't understand why he hasn't been seen in more films... the man has a physical presence that is truly commanding, and in interviews, he certainly seems to be well spoken.

I work in a funeral Home myself and don't think I would want to meet up with a presence like the Tall Man! Lol! ........ Definitely quite a contrast between him and his Tall Man persona! "The important question is not, are there aliens on other worlds? No. The important question is, do they have ray guns?"

Interesting that Mike Baldwin refers to him as "Rory" on one of the Phantasm commentaries (Rory Guy is Scrimm's real name). Others refer to him as Angus in the same commentary. True, because he's a gifted actor. But we all know that he's really like the Tall Man character in real life! This reminds me of a funny line Ralph Kramden said to Alice. They were arguing about something (weren't they always?) and he says sometghing to the effect of "Yeah, you see Boris Karloff on tv (some variety show) dancing and singing, he seems like a nice guy! But watch Frankenstein, that's the REAL Karloff!" It's not an exact quote, but you get the idea.

But he eventually became a caricature of himself, I think. But it's a pretty one-note character, and I'm not so sure I'd call the role a great stretch or anything (sorry).

Come to think of it, the only other thing I've seen him in was as the king at the beginning of Subspecies, and the big wig he's wearing is kind of overpowering. Oct 29 08 3:31 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Angus is great in Don Coscarelli's first film, Jim, The World's Greatest, as an abusive alcoholic father. He's also very good in Incident On And Off A Mountain Road, which is Coscarelli's Masters Of Horror offering. There's a scene in Phantasm Oblivion where Angus is a kind, gentle older man from the Civil War days (the derivation of The Tall Man?), and he really does a great job as coming across like a kindly grandfather. Not exactly a "kindly grandfather" role, but not too far off. I wish we could see more of Scrimm. I'd like to meet him someday. He's kind of like what Reggie Nalder was...this distinguished guy who you really know from only one role, even though he's made limited appearances here and there. Speaking of which, don't recall the name of the film, but there was a proposed idea of a film which Scrimm and Nalder would have done together. Can't remember the rest of the proposed cast. Will have to dig around for my old Video Watchdog on Nalder to give details. Still, a teaming of the two may have been interesting.

After looking under Stuart Whitman, figured out this is Scrimm under "Lawrence Guy" and it looks like he may have some additional titles listed separately. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0349826/
