But I can't get past that silly face and take the movie seriously. Hopefully, you're more mature than I am, and will enjoy both of these. I think that's a wee bit unfair, certainly publicity photos don't do it any favours but in the film it is shot in a way that does its best to hide its weaknesses. The first reveal of the makeup is pretty effective I thought. It's a repetitive film towards the end but is pretty good otherwise. More money/time spent on the makeup would certainly have helped. Roy Ashton seems to have had good ideas and put a bit of thought into his designs. Shame he didnt get more support from the front office. second worst monster costume ever Whats your first choice? Hammerwise, I'd go for the Monster from Hell. Oh, No the Gorgon. What a shame that Hammer's attempts to create new monsters were loused up by budget and mucking about by executives. Dec 9 08 4:20 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	If maniac (1963) is for sale on DVD then its a bottleg (presumably from the TCM broadcast) as the film has had no legitimate release. There is no 99m version of Frankenstein & the Monster From Hell available anywhere. A 98m cut was sent to the BBFC in 1972 but Hammer cut it down to 93m before it was released (Kinsey's book flags several scenes filmed and then cut which probably account for this footage). Thye 3 On the Buses films are available on DVD in the UK (not sure by whom).

It is indeed a beautiful TCM print, letterboxed, with the occasional TCM logo appearing in one corner (which I don't really mind that much). The print is so good I'm surprised it hasn't been transferred to a legit DVD. ... Reed

Like I said, if the costume doesn't spoil it for you, it's got some really good points. Hiding it in the darkness just makes it even more cheesy for me. The problem is, unlike some other movies, the humor of the bad costume and hiding it doesn't help this movie. At least I mentioned it's kind of immature of me to dis the movie for this, but I just have trouble getting past it. I really want to take this movie more seriously because it probably deserves it. Most worstest isn't fair. That's for a separate top 10 thread. But I bet The Reptile finds its way into a few of those lists. Hint: My top spot recently came out in a better print. It'll probably sell for under $20 on Amazon at some point.

USA] Hell Is a City [Anchor Bay - OOP but still available at reasonable cost] The Brigand of Kandahar [Amazon Instant Video Download] Creatures the World Forgot [Sony on-demand DVD-R] On the Buses [Wham! USA and also Televista] Mutiny on the Buses [Wham! USA and also Televista] Holiday on the Buses [Wham! USA and also Televista] Shatter [Anchor Bay] is OOP, but available for around $20. On the other hand, Scars of Dracula [Anchor bay] is OOP and very pricey.
