I've watched ten of the thirteen episodes and the quality is uneven, to say the least. To be honest, I think 'Mysterious Death...' is one of the better episodes. The next five in a row left me very disappointed, though things pick up with episode seven.

The episode featuring Jackson and Sheybal was called "Night of the Marionnettes". While I've seen other episodes of this series, this particular episode has always eluded me. Since the series still exists in its entirety, hopefully it too will be released to DVD in the near future. This 1977 BBC series was shown just once, I believe, and the chances of a DVD release are slim. The episodes are variable in quality but the best are excellent, including 'Marionettes'. Sep 27 11 11:23 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I love Rivals of Sherlock Holmes. I lived in Maryland in the 1970s and it was syndicated there from about 1973 or so onwards if I recall aright. I never got to see very many of the shows... some I got to see twice because of how they were run. Like Madame Sarah which is still a favorite. It was a huge thrill to me when this series was finally released on DVD! I have found many of the stories to be ever better than I had remembered, and of course quite a number I never got to see "back in the day." H.

Dec 27 11 9:58 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I bought the two sets of Rivals of Sherlock Holmes from amazon.co.uk several years ago and have watched all the episodes several times. They're extremely enjoyable and evocative both of the periods they portray and British TV at the time they were made. Some episodes are better than others, of course, but the whole enterprise was grand idea and well carried out.
