Revisiting THE OMEGA MAN soundtrack thread got me thinking about this topic. It certainly qualifies as one of my all-time favorites...I never get tired of it.
There are countless great scores, of course, but here are some of my other most cherished picks:
CONAN THE BARBARIAN, by Basil Pouldouris (Powerful, epic, easily one of the most memorable film scores of all time)
ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE, THUNDERBALL and YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE, by John Barry (as you can tell, I'm a Bond fan...)
DANCES WITH WOLVES, also by Barry
THE BIG COUNTRY, by Jerome Moross (Sweeping, beautiful score, another epic)
THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY and ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST, by the maestro Morricone himself
As well as Morricone's DANGER: DIABOLIK soundtrack (even though it's never had an official release, to my knowledge-- boo hiss!)
RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK, by some no-name called John Williams
HATARI! by Henry Mancini
THE GOLDEN VOYAGE OF SINBAD, EL CID, and BEN-HUR, by Miklos Rozsa
THE GREAT ESCAPE, by Elmer Bernstein
STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE, by Jerry Goldsmith
LAWRENCE OF ARABIA, THE PROFESSIONALS and DR. ZHIVAGO by Maurice Jarre
What say you?
