NIGHT GALLERY Season 2 will not be complete |
Lead | |

Universal could not find two episodes and they will not be included on the Season 2 set. SATISFACTION GUARANTEED & WITCHES FEAST.

Ah well -- at least it's just two of the vignettes, not full stories, that are missing. I'll still buy the set.

Universal does have a history of adding previously omitted material to later sets, like when they added the Rockford Files pilot to the season 2 set as an extra. Maybe the segments will be miraculously recovered for the next set.

Hard to think of something shot for TV by a major studio circa 1970 as lost-lost; it seems like they oughta be able to find 'em on 16mm, or in fans'
hands, or even in fans' hands on video, and include 'em with a disclaimer about the low quality.

Makes sense - they advertised 61 stories when some episode guides show about 63. Neither story was on Mystery channel a few years ago where the series was
shown mostly as it was first aired (not the edited syndication version). NightGallery.net lists 2 more stories as being aired only in syndication (again, not
shown in the more faithful Mystery cablecast). They should look in the old syndication package for the missing stories.

The one with Victor Buono--is that about his wanting to hire a maid and then deciding to "eat her here?" Seems so I just saw that one not long ago.
And "Room for One Less." Is this the one where a skeletal monster wearing a top hat removes his entire head in the elevator? Again, seems I just saw this one somewhere! Rod |

According to TVshowsonDVD, one is completely missing & they found part of the other one. Not sure which. I bet some fan has these on tape somewhere.

I definitely remember seeing SATISFACTION GUARANTEED on the Mystery channel.Yeah, they added it to episode #5 instead of the original #8. The other 3 titles (Witches Feast; Die Now; Room for 1 less) aren't on my Mystery set, but have been aired elsewhere. I wonder how hard they really searched. |

SATISFACTION GUARANTEED ... | ||
|
I am currently watching SATISFACTION GUARANTEED, which I taped off SciFi in 1995. It was paired with CLASS OF '99 in that syndication package.
BTW, AN ACT OF CHIVALRY and ROOM FOR ONE LESS are two separate vignettes. When I saw ROOM on SciFi initially, it seemed oddly unfamiliar to me. (I was a regular NIGHT GALLERY watcher when it originally aired.) The information in this thread clarifies why. Sadly, I didn't tape WITCHES' FEAST in '95 (I don't know if it aired). I assume that's the one with Ruth Buzzi and others.

I'm sure the guy who wrote the fabulous NIGHT GALLERY book could rustle up copies of the "lost" segments instantaneously, if not sooner. Yeah,
they might be video copies but who cares?

Both so-called "lost" episodes played in worldwide syndication for decades. Why can't they just take them off a 16mm print?

Wait a minute- I also saw "Satisfaction Guaranteed" on the Chiller Channel- I recorded it! You mean there was no way Universal could have put this
little vignette onto the DVD? Little side note, The woman director at the employment agency was played by Kathleen Cordell, who also appears in the
Batman episode "The Unkindest Tut of All" as a librarian who is hog-tied by King Tut played, of course, by Victor Buono!
"Room For One Less" was a very similar vignette to "An Act Of Chivalry", only in this case, it was an alien (a pretty impressive mask!) who is told by the operator after he steps into a crowded elevator that he is one too many passenger. You can guess the rest. |

Yeah I saw Satisfaction Guaranteed during Night Gallery's Sci-Fi Channel run, too.
