Even though this movie is about the Prancer -- one of Santa's flying reindeer -- everything that happens in it is "real world" until the final moments of the film, at which point [SPOILER!] we see that it really was the real, magical Prancer after all. (Unless, of course, the image in question was just a cinematic device to tell us in the audience that the little girl's imagination -- which had almost been snuffed out by logic and "reality" -- was alive and well and back in full force.) Um, perhaps I've spent just a little too much time contemplating this picture ...

While I understand what you're saying about SHANE, I don't agree. It's pretty clear that what he is is a master gunslinger, so it's no surprise that he can take out Jack Wilson and the others. And he's even wounded in the effort. Matter of fact, I think the general opinion (which I don't want to share) is that Shane is dying as he rides away, or is, perhaps, already dead in the saddle when we last see him. And that, of course, makes him all too mortal and all too human. In the book SHANE, it is obvious he is dying as he rides away. I never got the same feeling about it from the film.

Apr 13 13 1:09 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I know I mention it a lot, but there's THE NINTH CONFIGURATION / TWINKLE, TWINKLE, KILLER KANE. It's a very weird film in general, with its dream sequences and so on, but the very end is nearly the only part that could be considered supernatural.

Although the titular ship had optimum performance during WWII, it mysteriously starts suffering mechanical issues when its postwar uses become more and more shady. Gravedigger's Local 16 - "What is he that builds stronger than either the mason, the shipwright, or the carpenter?" 6'+ (Six Foot Plus) - Musical madness (and more) from the GdL16 gang.

Apr 18 13 4:14 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	The western SERAPHIM FALLS for the most part seems to be a naturalistic western. However, toward the picture's end protagonist and antagonist both encounter two strange figures: an old Indian camped out near a waterhole and a wagon-huckster played by Angelica Huston. Neither one DOES anything really bizarre, though Huston seems at one point to pop up out of nowhere. I saw a review suggest that they might be "angels," but they both act more like the Native American idea of "trickster-gods" who just sit around watching human idiocies and laughing. NATURALISTIC! UNCANNY! MARVELOUS!
