I had a grand time reuniting with so many great friends at the Bash this year, even though I really missed having Anita and the kids along for the ride. I drove this year instead of flying, and the ten-hour trek from Muscle Shoals to Butler was well worth the time and effort. The classic radio channel on satellite radio really helped pass the time, particularly the Peter Lorre Suspense marathon, plus Paul Frees in a special birthday-tribute collection of vintage Green Llama broadcasts.

Having my own car led me into all sorts of wonderful temptations: I came home with a six-foot London After Midnight stand-up, an Ultratumba Tingler (I thought I'd missed my chance -- but now my UT collection is complete!) and other treasures I wouldn't have considered if I had been traveling by air. I also returned with a nice stack of stills, eight rare DVDs, several of those 11-by-18 poster and lobby card reproductions, Frankenstein T-shirts for Anita and the babies, a signed copy of Martin Grams' Twilight Zone book and bright-and-shiny copies of Monsters from the Vault, Scary Monsters (thanks to the sweet and thoughtful Debbie Painter) and Scarlet -- The Film Magazine.

It was especially nice to have a chance to chat with old friends like Joe Moe (two months in a row -- thanks for making another journey to the east to see all of your 4E Friends!), Don and Dana Dunagan, Janet Ann Gallow and her husband Dennis, Ricou Browning, Yvonne Monlaur (Anita's favorite bar buddy from the 2007 Bash), Jim and Marian Clatterbaugh (congratulations on the well-deserved Forry Award -- it's officially the Year of the Clatterbaughs!), Rich Scrivani, Ron, Linda, Jennifer and Jaclynn Chaney, Richard Gordon (always delightful), Don Reese, Barb Heiss, Debbie Painter and David Hawk, Gord Shriver (I love the photo posted above -- looks like I'm holding Gord's hand ...), Max Cheney and Jane Considine (thanks, as always, for the wonderful warmth and hospitality), Robert Taylor, Cortlandt Hull and Dennis Vincent, Jonathan Haze, Zach Zito, Mike Lederman, Jeff Barnes, Bob Pellegrino, Gary and Susan Patti, Elizabeth Haney, John Skerchock, Bobb Cotter, Paul Riggie, Ken Hanke, Mike Thomas, Buddy Barnett, Eric Caidin, Cory Glaberson, Rick Stoner and his family, and plenty of other fine folks that I'm no doubt leaving out.
