I finally managed to find a copy of this seldom seen film and I must say that it is a camp classic waiting to be rediscovered. The film seems to have been
inspired by the Dr. Phibes films as the subject matter is quite morbid and there are quite a few grusome setpieces but it is all played for black comedy. For
such an low-budget film there is an awfully good cast on display here including such faces as Roddy McDowell, Elsa Lanchester, Farley Granger, Stella Stevens,
Victor Buono, and Jamie Farr as the silent brooding indian housekeeper.
The film was produced by Bing Crosby's production company and for a company associated with one of America's famous comedians the company turned out some very grisly productions. Some of their other productions from around this time include Terror in the Wax Mueseum, Willard, Ben, W, as well as the Joe Don Baker vehicle Walking Tall.
