Anyway, they tried to send the ashes up on Saturday -- also real-life astronaut Gordon Cooper's -- and the craft went right into the Pacific. Well, Doohan was on VOYAGE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA twice!

Aug 7 08 6:26 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Previously, about a quarter ounce of his ashes were sent aboard a suborbital flight that reached outer space, but then came back to earth (as planned). People thought that his ashes were released into outer space, which they were not. This is one of those occasions when the phrase, "Let's not, and say we did" should apply.

Aug 10 08 3:00 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I'm glad you posted this, because I didn't realize his ashes were recovered from the previous flight. I know someone online who sent her husband's ashes up with Doohan's in the April, 2007 flight, and thought they were lost then. Guess they were found, and then lost AGAIN this weekend. Someone must have replaced the craft's dilithium crystals with Folger's crystals.
