(07/30/08 7:32 PM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite	I've done my best to compile a complete list of the best or only DVD releases of all 28 of the Toho Godzilla films, that have either English subtitles or English audio, that are presented in their original aspect ratios. While it's not yet a perfect Godzilla collection for non-Japanese fans, we can at least now obtain most of the movies legitimately. With so many of the films having alternate titles, and even multiple DVD releases of some films by different companies, I'm hoping this list will be of use to monster hunters out there. It's illustrated with the DVD cover art of my recommendations. Click here to see the list. Anamorphic, Japanese audio, subtitles. The English language presentations on both discs are below par though Godzilla vs King Ghidorah, Mothra (92), Mechagodzilla (93), Space Godzilla and Destroyah were released by Madman, anamorphic, subtitles, dual language If one prefers the Japanese credits as a point of authenticity, the Madman DVDs of Sea Monster, Son, Hedorah, Gigan and Mechagodzilla (74) are reccomended over the Sony DVDs, though Sony's are better prints. Classic Media are about to tackle a few more, starting with the upcoming double-bill of RODAN and WAR OF THE GARGANTUAS. FRANKENSTEIN CONQUERS THE WORLD KING KONG ESCAPES LEGEND OF DINOSAURS AND MONSTER BIRDS LATITUDE ZERO YOG (released as SPACE AMOEBA) THE MYSTERIANS MOTHRA have all been released widescreen on DVD, though GORATH is still missing.

(08/02/08 2:16 PM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite	Actually, Mothra has not come out, though hopefully is coming next year from Sony in a collection that will also include H Man, Battle in Outer Space and Mothra III. According to August Ragone: The Toho fantasy films originally distributed by Brenco Pictures, THE HUMAN VAPOR, THE LAST WAR and GORATH, are with MGM now. Apparently, the elements are in very poor shape. Too poor to consider a DVD release, reportedly. I just recently picked up the Toho, R2 disc of Human Vapor and used the download-able subs from tokyomonsters.com (got the R2 Gorath a few years ago). I liked The Human Vapor quite a bit. If you really want Gorath and/or The Human Vapor (and have a DVD burner in your computer), pick up the Toho discs and take advantage of tokyomonsters.com's subs. They work great! Great list, Mark! Of course MOTHRA isn't out yet on DVD - I was mistakenly flashing on all those GODZILLA V MOTHRA, MOTHRA V GODZILLA DVD covers. Digital Monster Island, plus the other specialised websites and blogs, are more expansive than I can ever hope to be on the subject of Japanese Monsters. I wanted to produce a list to simplify this matter for Godzilla fans, sharing what I've found out so far, while trying to track down a 'perfect' set for myself. Sounds like I need to check out some of those Australian discs to upgrade the Hong Kong discs---I just last week ordered the Australian MEGALON, which was the last missing piece other than MOTHRA and REBIRTH OF MOTHRA 3, which are still AWOL in English AFAIK (not proper G films but part of the G-verse so I want 'em).

I think I tried to access the Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah subs a few months ago and it was no good. Go for the DVD-R ones, not the DVD-subber. Need any help or info, shoot me a PM. I will be so happy when SOMEONE finally releases them. I have those that are missing on DVD, on VHS at least so I can watch them. Its a tad inconvenient, but I guess thats life.
