Where's the rest of William Castle's movies?? |

How about MACABRE, NIGHT WALKER, etc? Who's got the rights to 'em, and are any of the non-Columbia dvd-released titles available elsewhere?

BETRAYED (1944, a.k.a. WHEN STRANGERS MARRY) - Warner
THE WHISTLER (1944, and the Castle-directed follow-ups + CRIME DOCTOR, etc) - Sony IT'S A SMALL WORLD (1950) - MGM or Sony (whichever has the Eagle-Lion films) FORT TI (1953, and all/most other pre-MACABRE films of the early/mid-1950s) - Sony MACABRE (1958) - Warner (part of their Allied Artists holdings) ZOTZ! (1962) - Sony 13 FRIGHTENED GIRLS (1963, a.k.a. THE CANDY WEB) - Sony THE OLD DARK HOUSE (1963) - Sony NIGHT WALKER (1964) - Universal I SAW WHAT YOU DID (1965) - Universal (the long out-of-print R1 DVD was released under license by Anchor Bay) LET'S KILL UNCLE (1966) - Universal THE SPIRIT IS WILLING (1967) - Paramount PROJECT X (1968) - Paramount SHANKS (1974) - Paramount I don't know if any of these are out in other regions, though I doubt it. Nice job, Pete. Your well-researched film lists continually amaze me.

Thanks, Pete. I see a few titles that I'd love to get to see sooner, rather than later!

Since you left out:
THE BUSY BODY (1967) - Paramount does that mean it has been released to DVD? If so, I wonder why that one and not some of the others. |

Joe Lugoff wrote: Yes, it's out. THE BUSY BODY was just released early this month, as one of the Legend Films releases of Paramount-licensed films that are currently Best Buy "test market" exclusives, along with THE MAN WHO COULD CHEAT DEATH, PHASE IV, THE DEADLY BEES and THE SENDER. The Busy Body is available from Amazon as well.
Since Sony released The Giant Claw, Zotz shouldn't be far behind! |

ZOTZ and THE OLD DARK HOUSE are two of my most wanted. How about a ZOTZ coin included?

Jameson281 wrote: Ah, okay. Thanks for the clarification. I guess Eagle-Lion is similar to Allied Artists; a catalog that is split up between more than one studio, plus films that have reverted to individuals, and probably some that have fallen into the public domain. That being the case, do you know if the non-Castle prison/noir flick, CANON CITY (1948), is currently part of MGM's library, or is that in other hands? "I say ALL you scientists are CRACKPOTS! In an email letter from Sony honcho Mike Schlesinger, he mentioned to me that there is a William Castle box "on the drawing board" for next year (he
made a similar comment about Sam Fuller). While he wouldn't confirm any specific titles, he did say that I might see a letterboxed HOMICIDAL in the set
(the previous DVD release of the film was full frame).

I Saw What you Did has to be one of the cheesiest "horror" films I've ever seen. Take 3 parts Leave it to Beaver (only leave out the Cleavers and
insert any of the girlfriends who had the hots for Wally), add one part sitcom sweetness, 1 part "rock and roll" the likes of which makes Petula
Clark look cutting edge, toss in Joan Crawford wearing a god-awful necklace and screaming like a harpy, one annoying "little sister" who gets into
wacky situations, and top it all off with a very dour John Ireland, and you've got Castle's recipe for scares. Except there aren't any! And it
looks as if it was filmed in Beaver's neighborhood, too. I half-expected to see Larry Mandelo do a cameo, along with Whitey. Ugh!
