Those needing help buying Warner's upcoming sci-fi collections please post here. List the titles you are needing and someone will get in touch with you. Once you have hooked up with someone, please edit your post and let others know you no longer need help.

Payment options is up to the buyer and seller and can take place through Paypal and various other sources.

This thread is intended for one fan to help the other so please don't pay someone $100 a disc. This is about helping other fans and not trying to make money.

Hell, I'm right here in Los Angeles not far from TWO Best Buys, and I know I have not the chance of a fart in a tornado of getting to either store before their small shipment of these new titles (that is, if they get them at all) is completely sold out. So yeah, I want them--all three of these new double-bill releases. I do not understand the thinking behind Best Buy exclusives.

Are there any "Best Buy exclusives" that didn't eventually become available elsewhere? I know both those Universal collections began as being exclusive to Best Buy, but were later issued as one stand-alone set available through other retailers.

Extra titles and shipping needs to be talked about between the two parties. I'm guessing it'll be around $70 for three titles ($20 each) and then the shipping.

I can take on a couple more. Just send me a PM. I can take Paypal or money orders or whatever. I'd prefer to pick everything up on the same date and not go back on multiple trips through. If you also want the Legend titles then I can try and get them as well.

Wow, great thread. Being from the UK it is beyond frustrating getting hold of these Best Buy's, but this is a very nice gesture and one that will be greatly appreciated I'm sure. Oh and anyone after R2 items, please let me know as I'll be happy to try and help.

To make life easier, if you are shipping a couple of DVDs at a time, the best option is the Global Priority Flatrate Envelope. Shipping is fast plus you already have an envelope.

Priority Mail Flat-Rate Envelope (up to 4 pounds)

$11.95

12.5'' x 9.5''

Cost to Canada is 9.95

That way you just have to bung in the DVDs and off they go - also you already know how much the shipment will cost.

Hi. I'm located in the UK - I'd like three of the Legend titles, Deadly Bees, Man Who Could Cheat Death, Phase IV - plus all three of the upcoming Warner doubles.

I think I've managed to mail Michael but I'm not sure as the Yuku mail system looks pretty nasty!

Update: Michael has generously offered to help me get hold of these discs.

OK, I've got six people I'm picking stuff up for so that's enough for right now.

Crespi, how many DVDs will that envelope hold? I have some people getting 7 and 8 discs so will they hold or would another method be better?

Those prepaid envelopes will hold two or three discs - certainly not seven or eight! Probably the best way would be to either send them in two or three such envelopes, or something like a large padded envelope or small box that can take all of them.

Using several envelopes has an additional benefit, in that each one will be valued under $35; any package with a declared value over that will mean that the person receiving it will end up paying another 20% plus $16 in additional import taxes/fees.

You'll have to complete a Customs Declaration for each package, Michael.

Is there a way for you guys to get away from the tax? I had always heard that if you mark the form as a "gift" and the value at "$0" that there would be no taxes.

Michael has also generously offered to help me out. I am over the moon to be getting the Hammer's especially. Does anyone know if the 2 disc version of The Dead Pit is worth having? I have just found out that it has been released as such exclusively to Best Buy

Oh, and if the package is marked as a gift and under $36 then customs will not add the dreaded tax, but even more importantly as mentioned, the Royal Mail won't add an extra $16 for handling!

No. But...

The tax-free import limit for commercially bought goods is around $35/36 (depending on what the exchange rate happens to be - the Customs people convert the value to British Pounds). However, the limit for packages marked as gifts is double this, so that takes it up to around $70.

I think the poster above meant £36.

The limits are: commercial items - £18 (about US$36); gifts - £36 (about US$72)

Please don't mark anything as $0. That is reserved for things that genuinely have zero value - an example would be, replacement items that are an exchange for faulty ones.Anything marked with zero value is likely to be considered "suspect" and might well be opened, and examined, if Customs decide they are not zero value items, they will "determine" a value themselves, which is likely to be in excess of the real value! I had a replacement DVD from Image, correctly marked as $0. It was kept for a month and was opened (came wrapped in red and yellow tape, the padded envelope was slashed to bits), luckily, there was a letter inside that said "here enclosed your replacement DVD in exchange for the faulty one"!

Aside from the "gift" thing, another way would be to just send two packages each valued at around $30-ish. It costs more shipping, but the saving in taxes and fees makes it worth it.

They only go on the value of each package - it doesn;t matter if someone gets a load, all at the same time from the same place - each package is considered separate for import value purposes.

You are lucky in the USA, your import limit is at least $100 - in Australia, it's $400!

For Canada...just make sure the amount isn't over $20.00

If anyone doesn't mind me watching the discs before shipping them overseas, count me in. Personally, I think these new batches of BB exclusives are too pricey justify adding to my collection (especially after spending some big bucks at Deep Discount on their Criterion sale)...but that doesn't mean I don't want to see them!

I run a packaging and shipping store so I have plenty of experience shipping stuff. There's no time-limit on this offer - I'm happy to pick stuff up from actual stores or forward orders through Amazon or Deep Discount. [Although lets limit to items to fit in the Global Priority envelope - best bargin for shipping internationally!]

I also spend lots of time scouring the second-hand stores, so feel free to send me want-lists. I've passed on a number of great genre-related discs for under $7 because I already had them (Dark Sky releases, Media Blasters, etc).

That's not a bad idea Peter. I actually thought about opening the cases and putting a small piece of bubble wrap just to make sure the discs don't come loose during shipment. I'd hate for someone to end up with scratched discs or something like that. Not to mention making sure the disc plays before sending it overseas. BB has a 14-day return policy on "opened" discs so if I bought a bad disc then it would be hard to ship it overseas, get it back and then take it back to the store.

This is a new thing we're trying here so any opinions are welcomed.

My girlfriend's twin daughters are already pissed at me because I told them they had to get up early on that day and help me carry all those discs to the register and then the post office.

I personally think it is best to break up larger shipments into a few envelopes. For safety and tax reasons. Also opening up the boxes, if for padding the discs or watching them, would be more than welcome. Since you are doing us a great favour.
Please fill out the green customs slip and tick gift plus 10 dollars per disc. That way it will slip through customs without any problem.
