What an utter waste
I'm from the UK. Lets see who else on the forum is prevented from (legally anyway!) getting their hands on these goodies!

A nice range of genre titles and the only place to get them is Best Buy, who don't ship outside of the US

With a multi-region player in the UK the World is my oyster.
Apart from so-called 'Best buy'. What a joke name... (sobs) |

Me too!
Looks like I`ll have to trawl through ebay and probably end up paying way too much for `em! |

And how many titles from outside of the US were hard to get for many years? Shoot, even Canada had editions of movies that were better than in the US (eXistenZ
and TRAINSPOTTING come to mind immediately).
It's just the way it is. Anything not sold in one's home country always has a hurdle to jump over. Learn some patience, all good things come to those who wait, blah blah blah. Ben |

Region free players are a no-no in this country. Why do you think studios put a region coding on them?
So, with that in mind, I'm going to join the protest and agree with you. However, I'm also going to boycott Europe for not putting subtitles on those hardcore porn movies they release to bookstands. Not to mention I can't get to the bookstand to buy them. I need my Franco and D'Amato fixes. |

Well, the U.S. is the center of the world, but I agree that this is unfair and a lousy practice, this BB thing.

Is that not because Universal don`t have the US rights to all the films in the L&H boxset?

Yep and Warner doesn't have the rights to the two Hammer titles outside of the U.S.

Still don`t see why one company in the US should be allowed to sell these titles.
Imagine if all the Euro Horrors were only available thru one retail company in the UK! |

It goes back to a money issue. In another thread someone said that people in America are stupid and they only want what's "new". Perhaps this is
true and perhaps this is the reason the studio wants the money upfront before releasing something. How well these titles sell is on BB now, not Warner since
they have their money.

There is not much point in this discussion, I am pretty sure there would be a lot of whining if it were the other way round and there were an exclusive store in the UK that did not ship abroad that were releasing interesting stuff. So how about forming a members help members section in the classifieds? I have seen people ask for BB titles there before - but without answer. EDIT: Thanks Michael that's the way to go! Hope others will follow. I know why I like hanging out here!

That link I posted is where to ask for help. I'll take care of the titles you want.

Those of you who don't live in the U.S. and can't walk into a Best Buy, you have no idea what you're missing. Why don't you open your oven
door, put your head in front of it, and then slam the oven door against your head four... no, five times. There. Now you know what you're missing.
That said, stop whining. The alternative to WORLD WITHOUT END being released as a Best Buy only on July 29 is not WORLD WITHOUT END being released on July 29 wherever fine DVDs are sold, it's WORLD WITHOUT END not being released on July 29. When you finally track down a copy of it, won't you enjoy it in a manner all the sweeter for having had difficulty getting it? And I loved that pernt about Laurel & Hardy.

I ask this elsewhere, but not everyone reads ever topic here, so I'll ask it again. Are there any Best Buy exclusives that have
>remained< Best Buy exclusives? A couple of years ago, there were a pair of Universal 1950s SF (and fantasy) movies that were Best Buy exclusives, but
they were issued in a combination set this year which was available almost everywhere. Is that going to happen with these Warner Bros. titles? Those
Universal titles were available by ordering online, but these new double features don't seem to be. I live near two Best Buys, and doubt VERY much that
I'll be able to get these titles at either store.

I`m pretty sure Warners still have the rights to MOON ZERO TWO and WHEN DINOSAURS ... in the UK (and CRESCENDO).Goodness knows when they`ll get round to
releasing them.
Oh and Bill, as far as I know Universals CLASSIC HORROR ARCHIVE set from last year is still a best buy exclusive. |

Laughing Gravy -- I hope you loved my answer as much as you liked Michael's question. Everything you and others once felt inclined to tout as being available from only other Regions are now available in the U.S. (like the Val Lewton set). The Laurel and Hardys will be as well. And if they aren't, I have the tapes (just like I have the VHS of ISLAND OF LOST SOULS and the LD copy of THE WALKING DEAD in the meantime). "Region Free"? No need for Me.
