Mar 24 12 4:30 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	All the Chaney MUMMY movies run together in my mind since I haven't really seen them since I was a kid in the 60's. So I just watched THE MUMMY'S CURSE on Netflix Streaming. Wow. What a snooze-fest. Chaney (the mummy) isn't scary - just throw some gasoline on him and burn him up. He sleeps through the role mostly. My memory is that the Chaney's Mummy was scarier. But not on this one. The Mummy has always been my least favorite Universal Monster and maybe this is why. Ok. Talking about this is making me sleepy. "I saw what I saw when I saw it!"

That's just the right time that a MUMMY can catch you, when you are asleep. Look, I doubt that any monsters, UNIVERSAL or otherwise, would be scary from the comfort zone of a computer screen. But, when I play this game I do it from the standpoint of what it would be like in real life to come face to face with one of these creatures. Oh, sure the Mummy is slow moving, but he is determined, especially if you happen to be carrying some TANA fluid in your back pack or have his reincarnated princess as your girl friend. The idea that an undead creature like the Mummy can catch you at any time once you relax your guard, which is what we normally would do once we manage to elude it the first time, is a scary thought indeed. Remember, Mummy's, like ZOMBIES, can travel underwater. So, although it may take along time, he will find you. Of course you can always throw gasoline on him and burn him up. But how many of us walk around with gasoline canisters strapped to our sides?

Mar 28 12 8:33 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I love all the Kharis films, more so than the original Karloff movie. I think my favorite is TOMB, followed by HAND, CURSE, and finally GHOST. TOMB whips up some pretty spooky atmosphere and Kharis is just plain nasty. CURSE has the creepiest scene of the entire series. Long live Kharis! Strangenstein

There has been a group of our community meeting most Saturday's for Svengoolie, even if you don't have his show or Me-TV, folks have been following along on DVD or other source. Watched THE MUMMY'S CURSE last night with others from our board in the chat room, and it is definitely--for me--the weakest of the films. It seems they were kind of running out of steam by this time. There were some decent moments, mostly involving the soon to be Mrs. Olson from the Folgers coffee ads, but overall it felt kind of like the end of the line, which it was. They had milked all they could out of this, with only comedy remaining (the '55 AC MEET THE MUMMY).

Jun 15 12 10:50 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Greetings, Jack Pierce's extended glove/gauntlet was addressed earlier, but I cannot recall where. If memory serves, the wrist wraps were to avoid perspiration or oils from soiling the mask or removing make-up. That only the fingers were exposed seems to have been an effort not to despoil the facial covering. Also, I think this is a mask from Ghost Catchers that Leo Carrillo subsequently examined and then wore in another previously posted series of photographs. Best regards, Andy in Vancouver.
