Recently watched the collected episodes of THE HARDY BOYS "The Mystery of the Applegate Treasure" and had a fairly fun time. I saw this originally as a kid when they re-ran the original Mickey Mouse Club iin the early 70's. The opening song played over stock shots is probably the highlight of each chapter. The song, sung by Thurl Ravenscoft, is unforgettable to anyone who has ever heard it. I always wondered if fans of the books might have been disappointed by the Disney depiction. The Boys are portrayed much younger here than they are in the books and the humor is pretty broad. I liked Tim Considine's Frank (he was good on Spin and Marty, too) but Tommy Kirk's Joe is way over the top, whiney and annoying. I never saw the follow-up serial, "Mystery of the Ghost Farm." I wonder if Disney has any plans to release it as another Disney Treasure.
