Strangely enough, this is a great, mostly unexplored area for me. Despite being a lifelong "Monster Kid" & a voracious reader of 46.
In fact, the very first "adult" horror fiction novel that I read at about 11 or 12 years old was actually an advertised staple in the back pages of FM called NIGHT OF THE VAMPIRE by one, Raymond Giles. Other than that though, I haven't read much from that particular era as subsequently my genre reading picked up somewhere in the mid-'70s with early King, Koontz, Graham Masterston, James Herbert, Straub etc..
So, the paperback horror fiction of the '60s & early '70s is pretty much a mystery to me. One I'd definitely like to delve into, but those paperback originals are, unfortunately, difficult to come by at reasonable ( aka CHEAP! LOL ) prices. Though I keep on looking ...
Any particular favs from that era you'd like to tell me about?
Or good sources for them perhaps?
Thanks.
Peace.
